Which is pretty ridiculous in and of itself. Gee, losing $500 every two hours certainly isn't going to destroy many families...

And those are the families that make up most of the clientele.

That law makes no sense at all. SO MUCH NONSENSE, it is actually hurting my brain.

If anything, the loss limit should be a PERCENTAGE of your income, not some absolute number. What you are saying is that the people who make $500 a month in social security can bet 100% of their earning away in two hours... doesn't seems like this law helped them. Or we can have the local Hip Hop Artist Nelly gamble $5,000 in an hour and lose less than 2% of his monthly income. (ok maybe a little more :)

Still, how this law ever got passed BLOWS me away. Next the MO goverment will try and protect the low income population by forcing them to buy from walmart because it is "cheaper"

Actually, if Obama gets the Democratic nomination, I hear that that is going be be part of his platform. Sounds like a good idea to me. We need the all-knowing, never-wrong government to keep us from hurting ourselves.

I cant wait to the day that stupid gambling law is lifted. I swear the Missouri legislature is trying to smother a state that should be great just off of location alone. Think of all the taxes that could be lifted if we let them casinos pay for it but no "real" major casinos or attractions will come without lifting that cap. Just think of the explosion that St. Louis riverfront would have if we allowed that big boys to come in. If I was in Missouri govt. I would let the casino developers get a hold of that riverfront. St. Louis would overnight become a tourist destination with river gambling boats and probably even more skyscrapers, because tourist are gonna want to stay downtown and look at our beautiful world recognize icon....hmmmmm what do they call it again.....oooh yeah the "f'ing ARCH".

I agree that the loss limit should be lifted. But keep in mind that many states don't allow gambling at all. Other states that do allow gambling have there own silly restrictions. For example, LA restricts gaming areas to only 30,000 square ft. (LP is approx 75k, Ameristar is 74k, 120k at harrahs)

Yeah I know, but whats the point of having gambling if your going to strangling it ya know. That is what gets me about Missouri, we do things so half-heartedly.

That's a little presumptious of them, considering the place hasn't even opened yet. :P

^Maybe they are going to require that their employees hang out there between shifts? Cuz they sure aren't going to achieve that with casino patrons...

It's neat to look at old hand-drawn postcards of proposed buildings that were stalled by the depression.

I don't think this time will be as bad, but it's kind of a shame to see building stopped.

Everything is inside the building. The only retail that might have an exterior entrance is Peet's Coffee.
