Senator Larry Craig agrees. He also like extra wide stalls to accomodate his extra wide stance.

The yellow "poster" facing west (declaring Lumiere) is already torn and you can see the windows through the hole(s). They should either pull that HUGE poster down completely, or repair it. Looks kinda tatty for a new place.

The restaurants in there are good. Service and staff in Asia is the best.

The buffet is not bad for lunch. $11 with your casino card. I went the other day and pigged out. Was thinking there would be more downtown office workers there, but almost all of the customers were gamblers.

Lumiere's first "month" had quite a significant impact on the other casinos in the area. Although part of it is just feeling it out, I suspect that there will be long-term declines in attendance to the other casinos despite their additions of $17 Million buffets and cheesy nightclubs located in the wrong area.

That said, I recall a conversation I had last spring with a higher up at Harrah's. He pretty much laughed at the notion that Lumiere would even hurt their attendance, much less have any staying power.

One thing I wish the article would've noted is how the other three casinos performed compared to the previous month. Just because their numbers are down compared to the same period a year earlier does not solely mean it is due to Lumiere, although chances are the majority of the decline is because of it.

Admissions and revenue declined in December at three St. Louis area casinos as they faced new competition with the opening of the $507 million Lumiere Place downtown casino and entertainment complex.

The Missouri Gaming Commission reported Thursday that Lumiere Place had 317,187 admissions with revenue of $6.1 million after opening Dec. 19.

I got to check out the space that presumably will be Cielo - they had folks head up there from the Four Seasons ballrooms to see the NYE fireworks. Space looked 95 percent done, there is a nice outdoor space where I would love for there to be a rooftop bar. The views are great.

Driving north on Memorial Drive at night, this thing looks like nothing but a huge freaking billboard. They need to take down the sign and get some lights on inside the place!

It will look much better when all the rooms are lit up and the banners down. I wish they would change the color on the glowhawk more often.

Some of you are not going to like to hear this: I'm going with a big group to the casino tonight and we are going to hang out on the Landing also! Dinner and drinks on the landing, then inside to the casino.

Anyone have any reports of Lumiere sucking the life out of the landing yet?

Would it be fair to say that this is one of the few casinos in the US near a transit station? Maybe I am wrong, but the experience of walking from a metro station through an historic neighborhood to a casino is rare.

I delivered some artwork to the Four Seasons today, so I got a sneak-peek at the interiors. Classy, sleek, and elegant; sure beats the crap out of the Super 8's I usually stay at.

The place is filled with artwork (real artwork), and the public spaces are all decked out with exotic woods, stonework, glass and chrome. There's a great view from the terrace on the ballroom level, overlooking The Admiral and Lumiere Phase II.

Clearly, a big chunk of the half-billion dollar tab went into the hotel.

Over $7 million of commissioned original art graces the walls of the casino and hotels

I would not be surprised if Pinnacle is considering opening up a club to rival Ameristar's HOME (SLEEK will not) in an effort to lure the younger demographic to the landing property, possibly there would be room on the second floor above the casino?

I also read that the Hotel Lumiere italian restaurant will now be called House of Savoy.

As I think I stated a few pages back, the big rumor is that Crobar (of Miami and Chicago) is supposedly pretty close to announcing at Lumiere Place.

^that would certainly be cool, but are you sure you're not confusing "Crobar" with "Glowbar"? I've had friends who got that confused.

Maybe they'll do something different and throw some kind of sportsbar in the place, who knows, maybe even something like an Espnzone?

Very interesting name choice. I assume this will be more of a French-Italian restaurant than your traditional ristorante, with more of an emphasis on seafood, other meat dishes, and of course the wine, than on pasta. Or maybe it is French-Italian-Swiss, whatever that would be like? Joe? :P

I finally visited Lumiere last week with some friends. Some thoughts:

1. Not enough roulette or card tables

2. Very impressed with the finishes. I liked the use of the stone, colors, etc. Also, while some of my friends made comments about the carpet I realized it is great for keeping you awake.

3. The service was very good. The people working there seemed genuinely happy to be there and didn't treat you as a nuisance.

4. Free garage parking is always good, especially when you gamble and pay $4 for a beer.

5. What happened to the 45,000 light combinations on the glohawk?

6. There should be better signage on 3rd and other streets downtown about where to turn to get to LP. Several people ended up going into Illinois and had to turn around.

Casino carpeting is designed to be disorienting to look at. They don't want you looking at the floor when you walk through. They want your eyes looking ahead, to see all the opportunities to lose money.

they could have at least laid the carpet properly for 500 million. i noticed quite a few carpet bubbles. and in a bunch of places you can see the flooring through the gaping seems. and the flooring goes KERCHUNK in several places when you walk on it. oh, and the complementary soda stations were in shambles the night i was there. frankly, it doesn't look/smell/feel any more luxurious to me than the president on the admiral did. not terribly impressed with the package so far. at least maybe we'll get some decent riverbank-scaping out of it, but i'm not holding my breath.

I hope its a Crobar...that place was awesome when I went to it in Miami. I'm generally not one for the clubs (not anymore anyway) but CB is really a genuinely cool place. It would also add a little cache to STL's nightlife resume' with it being 1 of 3 out there.
