I think that the Landing will benefit more than the St Charles Riverfront has from the 'new' local casino. It seems to be more connected. St Charles does a good job of having regular weekend events, and more bar/restaurants that draw a weekday evening crowd.
I don't gamble, but you will see me in lumiere place. Looking forward to the bottle district when that happens....cheers

I am trying so, so hard to be positive...
...but now I realize how expensive good architecture is if this is a 500 million dollar project.

Yea I like the multi color in the pic. Hey this may not be the best looking thing that they could build but it could be a lot worse. Lets thank god it isn't. IMO I would like to see the streak a different color but if they keep the lights on all day it wouldn't be so bad.
My big issue with this project is how prominent (and plain) the parking garage is. It's bad enough from this vantage, but from I-70 it looks horrible and overwhelms everything, except the brown streak.
The 2-story promenade area is so-so. It certainly isn't St. Louis architecture, but it's inoffensive I guess. Looks kind of like the "modernist high school" style, if there is such a thing.

Their literature discribes it as "prairie style", and in all fairness, it does have some prairie elements. Its like they cut out a couple of random chunks of Frank Lloyd Wright's Robie House and glued them onto a shopping mall.

Just since it hasn't been posted in about 8 pages:
Webcam!

If you look at the webcam picture around 3:45 pm on Wednesday ( 11/28 ) it looks as if the brown streak really has a tarp covering.
I agree with Tysalpha. The major faux pas is the rather plain, dreary and expansive parking garage. Surely they could have done better? Unfortunately, the parking garage overwhelms the whole project and not for the good. Kudos on the multi-color lights.

If you enter via the ped tunnel or take Metro to the Landing and walk, the parking garage won't be very prominent.

If you are talking about the east side portion of the top piece that is what it looks like with the red lights on in the daytime.
In other news.... My wifes boss got an invitation to the opening event on the 19th, Black Tie required. It came as this cool box that when opened up had the rendering of the building and the streak lights up.
I took some pics last night but didn't get a chance to resize them and post them here. I will try and do that tonight.
meh
500 mil could make one heck of a cool building, but casino's are not known for their tasteful architecture (unless you're in Monaco).
However, look at the spot where the 'prairie style' building turns the corner to what looks like the drive to the parking garage. They have these giant tree planters on the sidewalk and it looks as if there is barely room for a person to pass.

Where does the pedway exit on the opposite side of 70? How far along is it?

NE corner of Broadway/Convention Plaza. From the earlier pics it looks far along, though I doubt it will be open for the Dec 19 casino openning.

Could have built the MW Tower. Not great architecture either, but provides a good comparisson for what a project of this scope could have done.

But which project provides more tax income, the casino or office tower? Actually that might not be as easy an answer as I first thought. If the taxable office tower housed many high income executives and companies that were new to the city, add many of those people choosing to live in the city along with some of their county employed spouses. Top it all off by channeling all the gambling revenue towards other restaurants and entertainment venues with their accompanying employees and it might be a wash or even a gain for the office tower.

Yeah but those high salaried execs in that office tower probably wouldn't be contributing their earnings tax as it would most likely be waived. For them and all fo the employees of the big dog that was lurned to be teh anchor.

PNK is a casino company, why would they build an office tower? HQ is in the Wells Fargo building in LV, they don't even own that.
Yes I know this was a hypothetical question....

Could have built the MW Tower.
Could have a 49 page thread on a project that is never going to happen.

another restaurant I didn't see on the list above
Cielo
There will also be a Lounge Bar attached
Cielo
Cielo
With magnificent views of the Gateway Arch and the Mississippi River from its location on the eighth floor, Cielo offers indoor and – during clement weather – al fresco dining. The menu highlights fine contemporary Italian fare, accompanied by exceptional Italian wines. A children's menu is also available.
A private dining area that seats 70 may also be used for a group breakfast or a morning meeting. Seats 90 indoors, 40 outdoors.
There will also be a Lounge Bar attached
^Seems like Cielo is a hotel restaurant - not a casino restaurant.
