Ghost Hunters is the only crew that goes into a place to "debunk" the claims of paranormal activity. They are very skeptical going into a job, so I am really interested to see what they can disprove in the Lemp Mansion. And they have caught video of at least one solid figure, but they never replay that episode, probably because of the homeowner. It was a residence in Seattle.
Anyway, I hope Lemp doesn't come out just looking like an old creaky house. I like having some kind of mystery surrounding the place.

It's impossible to prove that a house isn't haunted. Of course, nobody has ever proven that any house is haunted, either. Never.

I can't remember, but has renovation work been going on here?
The reason I ask is this
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source= ... 69,,2,3.01
Maybe I shouldn't put too much importance on this image, but I thought it was interesting. They're doing something there, anyway. I only see one person on a ladder, so maybe I am reading too much into it.
Looking at the Bing Maps, the building at the corner of Cherokee and Broadway has some roof damage. The other buildings don't look so bad from above.

One thing that cannot be denied, is that a lot of bad things happened in that house, more death and despair than most houses. Damn prohibition!!!!It's impossible to prove that a house isn't haunted. Of course, nobody has ever proven that any house is haunted, either. Never.
Lots of death and despair in the Campbell House too (another favorite of the ghost crowd).

^I wouldn't put too much stock in that one. That's my blog you cited and when I saw that comment I privately email the commentator. Never heard back. Additionally, as far as I know, the same guys still own the complex so even if this person is serious, they are far from a sure thing.

It is good to see the Saint Louis SwapMeet bring some renewed attention to the Lemp Brewery, and I really hope the complex can be redeveloped into something very special... I think that would take the Cherokee/Lemp district into a whole different level.
In Milwaukee, developers are renovating the old Pabst Brewery into international student housing and extended-stay hotel along with a public market area with food vendors and retail, etc.

Something like that would be great for the Lemp but I'm not so sure it would be the most convenient spot for international students but a variation would be cool.

Updates on the Lemp Brewery. Check out the video here from TechCrunch Makers.

I've been all but told that Lemp Brewery is a goner. Hope that isn't the case.
^ So, kind of in line with what chaifetz said on the Cortex thread, maybe these types of pronouncements should be left off the site. Other than saying it's a goner you've added no additional information (or even what you mean by goner), no details, no insight. These types of declarations just lead to rampant speculation and rumor that don't add anything to the conversation.

I really don't mean for it to be a grandiose pronouncement. I've just heard that the building is in awful, awful shape and that the cost associated with bringing it back to life would be exorbitant. I'm not sure how true or false that is.
I'm hoping somebody will tell me they know the status of the building, and that it can be salvaged, as it is one of my favorite unoccupied buildings in all of St. Louis.

^ Well there are ~27 buildings on the Lemp Brewery site so you'll probably want to be a little more specific to which one. Many of them are currently being used if I'm not mistaken and I think the handsome building on the southeast corner recently received a new roof.
KansasCitian, the brewery you may be thinking of is the old Falstaff Brewery closer to Gravois.

Yes, my apologies. I'm thinking of that brewery.
I've heard it's toast. I really hope it isn't true and that they can salvage it.

The Falstaff building is a shame, it is a beautiful and grandiose brick building. Unfortunately, it seems that someone is slowly deconstructing the building and removing bricks.

It's so stupid that St. Louis could possibly lose yet another building like that.

I’ve heard that Falstaff #10 is a mess from an environmental standpoint. It would take a significant amount of costly remediation to rehab it. That is likely one of many things holding redevelopment back. It is truly unfortunate!
Oh yeah, that makes a lot more sense. It is also a shame. It's one of the cooler buildings in the city.
My take, all the money spent on Foundry could have been spent on Lemp or Falstaff and created something that is less of a stylistic mishmash, and also fit into the neighborhood. Plus Lemp has a lot of surface lots that could have been used to build residential, not to mention across the street on Lemp on the giant empty lot.
