If so, wonder how they're "protecting" their clients, neighbors, and "volunteers".

$100 says he doesn't.

It might just be cheaper if they demolish the building...

http://stlouis.missouri.org/citygov/air ... ontrol.htm

7. Third party continuous monitoring is required during removal of all ACM if the building is occupied. (Monitoring is not required for demolitions) Final air clearance is required after ACM removal if the building is occupied or will be occupied at a later date. I say if anyone sees any demo work going on there, call the city and report him. Then we'll find out if he has a permit.

No, you shouldn't. Larry is doing the Lord's work and should be allowed to do whatever he wants.

Permit? We don't need no stinking permit.

(Just in case: I'm being sarcastic.)

Talked to some people who were at Larry's Hydrogen seminar in the parking lot (which he doesn't own by the way)... and told them about the dumpster. They didn't believe me until I walked them around back and showed them the big ol dumpster with "ASBESTOS" written on it. They were surprised and shocked to say the least, especially since they just came from inside the building.

What a sham he's running with these hydrogen "generators" he's recommending people install in their cars.

http://kwc.org/mythbusters/2006/05/epis ... users.html

I saw on his tv station where they were putting mason jars in old chevy's, fords, etc. , hooking them up to the battery to generate hydrogen gas and pump it into the carburetor to "increase fuel efficiency". They were duct taped to the inside of the car engine.

Imagine driving behind one of these "modified" cars on a bumpy road...

Was someone driving one of these cars on a road? And if so, did it have current license plates? I can't imagine one of those cars making it through the state mandated safety and emissions inspection process!

I'm no fan of Rev. Rice either, as I believe his work seems to exacerbate the problem of homelessness in many ways, but right now the economy is the biggest obstacle to downtown's comeback by far. Actually, once the economy's back on track, finding another home for Rev. Rice might be a bit easier.

I didn't realize being a monkey wrench to downtown's revival was grounds for arrest.

Should office workers who don't patronize downtown businesses be arrested too?

No, but Rice is guilty of subjugating the homeless and dividing the community. It's a shame that society doesn't care enough about the homeless to provide a competing service that would put him out of business. I suppose without bad, there can be no good.

lemme think about this one.

PostDec 08, 2008#287

I agree with you...maybe everyone on this thread who complains about NLEC and Larry Rice should invest their time and money and open up a "competing service that would put him out of business". I think that would be a great idea - let me know when you guys get organized, what the name of this new organization is, and when exactly you hope to end homelessnes in the Greater St. Louis area - we'll be watching and waiting.

Because I'm not the one complaining about the action someone else is taking in an attempt to solve a problem. If you think you can do a better job - then do it, don't sit back and complain about it - have your own solution and implement a plan.

You say the same thing over and over again, despite all the evidence to the contrary.

I'll pass.

But that doesn't mean we don't get Rice shut down.

The "competing service" already exists at the St. Patrick Center, where their actions speak louder than all of Larry Rice's words. But regardless of how you feel about NLEC, the SPC is worthy of our support.

I wish you back-benchers would be successful in shutting NLEC down...and then I cannot wait to see what you complain about next.

I agree, SPC has provided a great level of service - I'm not sure they can handle any more volume but they are a very worthy ministry.

If you feel so passionate about this matter, exactly what are you doing about it. Stop complaining and come up with some workable solutions that can be funded and implemented (and you can stow your sophomoric attempt at humor).

I wish we would too. I won't be complaining about anything. I'm not a whiner.

I agree that it's worthy of support, and give part of every paycheck to St. Patrick Center. Remind me again, though, how many shelter beds do they have?

I never really thought of my tone as complaint. More of statement of fact.

I actually find your tone more plaintiff than most here.

And why would I put my humour away? So I can sit around and bemoan the complainers? That sounds masochistic and I'm not a flaggelist, so I'll leave you to that humourless self indulgence.

Right. SPC has an excellent reputation but they aren't a shelter.
