Getting a solid pub tenant on that corner will be a big step for the Landing.  I was never able to go there as a kid but I imagine it was pretty special in its previous iterations.  Never went when the casino owned it handful of years ago.

It will definitely need a new deck before a new concept opens. Even before the fire the deck was in bad shape. All of the wood is soft and several of the stairs are missing. I will say it's a good (and easy) place to trespass and chill for a bit.

Some photos from yesterday. Didn't;t realize Abstakt Marketing was taking over the old Extreme Institute by Nelly space. The cobblestone relaying continues.

They are currently laying new concrete floors in the former metro food court space, along with other light work. Curious what their retail vision is.

The former aquarium has been turned into the 810 Lounge, which was completely off my radar until recently. It looks finished inside, though I admittedly can't see many details because the window is mirrored.

Also some construction lights have been hung inside Rum Jungle. Not sure if that means anything or not but it can't be a bad sign for the redevelopment.

I hope the next round of development on the Landing will really utilize the riverfront real estate.  Rooftop pubs.  Open air river-facing decks.  I hope Sundecker's comes back as something new.

Unfortunately the lots closest to the river are perennial flood risks, with Commercial St. seeing water as recently as last year. This would likely limit what can go here to parking garages or green space, which is why the location of Ward Burg Garden is such a head scratcher.

My personal hope is for one of these lots to be converted to a flood proof bar concept, with similar construction to Flora-Bama down in Gulf Shores. Lower floors would just be wooden pier construction that doesn't matter if it gets flooded. Kitchen and bar infrastructure could be located on higher floors that could still be accessed in high water events. Also a sweet deck with a great view of the river.

^ That would be incredible, and infinitely cheaper than more elaborate structures. Putting a few bars/shops down there on a raised deck/pier-like structure would be a really nice addition to the riverfront. The question is, despite being relatively inexpensive, will this ever stand a chance of getting done?

On the comment of rooftop pubs/spots...we are lacking in that regard.  We're getting better (360, The Last Hotel, Form Skybar [kind of, it's roofed in], the one at the Angad hotel). To me they seem like no-brainers, but then again I have no idea of any risk or cost of doing rooftop spaces.

Now that the city has blocked access to Leonor K. Sullivan from every E/W street on the Landing except Lucas, some type of long-term plan would be nice. More permanent barriers, a nice big riverwalk, something.

Any word or progress on the Greenley Lofts and the other project by Advantes? I see they own the buildings now.

Cobblestone relaying of 2nd Street is just about complete. All of the intersections are redone and look very nice. Looks like work is moving down to 1st Street which is currently a dusty/muddy disaster.

Work continues on the former Metro food court space. Still not sure what's going in there.

Sundeckers now has no deck :(

Without the deck, it is now Suners.  I'll see myself out.

Glad the streets are looking good; I'll have to stop by soon and get some dinner or something.  Any word on the range of prices expected for rent down there?  It seems like any new developments these days start at $1100+ for a studio, which makes me grateful for my place...

For some reason all of the trees on first street have been cut down

Also looks like 810 lounge will be starting up with a LL hearing soon.

I haven't been down there as of late but via google (June 2019) it looks like a couple of them were ash trees so I could understand those getting chopped but the other trees were a handful of healthy-looking oaks and plane trees so that sucks.

Some updates because it’s been a while. 2nd street redo is just about finished. 1st Street is well underway. Looks like another total redo.
