I prefer the newer version, but I'll take either.

My guess is that it’s still Hartshorne Plunkard. They have the ongoing relationship with Albion.

I strongly prefer the original design. It had a classic, restrained elegance. This new look is just following the latest trend. It'll look dated rather quickly, I'm afraid.

New design looks more massive and, to me, a bit taller too. Perhaps that's because the rooftop elevator shaft isn't protruding as much?

I'm thinking the building is wider now than it initially was. The ceiling heights might've also gotten taller because the height still lines up with One Hundred like the old plans, but the mechanical penthouse is significantly reduced in size.

I like them both.  The newer one looks "less busy" to me.

The new one is beefier, more in line with the massing of One Hundred.

I disagree.  This is a step back.  They squared it off to save money, add units.

Its fine, but not better.  Significantly uglier.

And for the record, I liked that the original was different to 100.  That take out box, while cool, should be no ones guiding light.  Especially when you are spending 140mil of unaffiliated money.  Cardinal Way 2 can be a twin, but I welcome diversity.

Always end up value engineered in STL.

No, that would be too dignified and endearing for this blob. It's more akin to a Sim Card stood upright.

Seems like the right proportions.

When a classic St. Louis sunset lines up over Forest Park, you're going to have one of the most interesting skylines in the Midwest. The light reflecting off the gold accents and 100. Architecturally unlike anything outside of Chicago.

Oh man I love the sun reflection on 100. I actually always thought 100 would have looked great with gold accents to contrast the green.

Like I said, I’ve never been crazy about either of the designs but I’m typically averse to modern glass clad towers anyways (I hate skylines with only glass towers like Austin, Charlotte and Nashville).

But it will be some people’s taste - diversity in architecture is good. There’s potential opportunity at Lindell/Euclid, 4915 W Pine, 4961 W Pine, and several Cortex spots to add more diversity in the CWE skyline. Every piece is a step towards more fullness which will eventually make them all better individually and collectively

Not the biggest fan of the design.  Would have loved to see a Robert A.M. Stern designed building or something similar for the corner.  However, I am very excited for the project, its impact, and the street wall it will create.

Not like my opinion matters but I liked the previous design & I like this current designs so I would take either. I’m very happy to see this becoming a reality & adding another highrise to our skyline.

The previous tower, in my opinion, had a sense of elegance and sophistication that a lot like this truly deserves... To sit across from the classic architecture at the Chase and the one hundred that already does the modern glass tower, only better.... it needs to WOW. I'd be willing to wait for another proposal if this is the current plan

I liked the first one being more curved but I am fine with either. I am happy it still is curved some on the edges and isn’t just a box with hard edges

In all honesty, St. Louis is the only City in the Midwest with such a development pattern (3 distinct skylines between the River and Forest Park). Really, this will look like a miniature version of Central Park. St. Louis sets itself apart on that front.

The redesign will likely look better once built than the renderings portray. I also think people were getting caught up in the look of the previous plan as the renderings were envisioning the building at dusk rather than the middle of the day. The building will pick up different colors throughout the day. I'm sure we'll see more angles of this one soon.

No. Just liberals who would rather see the world burn than someone's feelings hurt (even while they are actively pushing a point that is detrimental to the betterment of St. Louis). Typical liberal sh*t. Congrats.

100% agree here. I don't think it's awful by any means but it's not better than the original plan. But at least the new plan has more units, less parking spaces.

The architect of record is the Lamar Johnson Collaborative. Clayco will be the builder.
