^ Not sure about a way to change settings on the site, but if you right click on the link and click open in new tab that should work fine. I use Firefox, but I'm assuming those other two have a similar feature.

That works; thanks! I often forget how useful right-clicking can be.

Control + Left Click on a link on Windows will open it in a new tab. Command + Left Click on Mac will do it too. At least in Chrome.

How do we jump to the last unread post in each thread? How do we know which sections have an unread post?

I like the redesign somewhat. I can now use it on my phone again (tapatalk) and it loads faster. Other than that, seems that there will be a learning curve.

Like the former "Active Topics"? It's the 2nd tab under the header "discussions". At least that's what I found.

PostApr 16, 2019#59

Found a neat dark mode setting at the bottom of the homepage on the desktop.

Hey, new things!

Appreciate the change and the continued investment in this space. I will echo framer's questions - if you browse forum by forum, thread by thread, there doesn't seem to be a way to see what's unread.

Also, for whatever reason the page auto-scrolls to the bottom to me and I have a scroll back up.

But so for, this seems much faster - that's a really good thing.

The "Discussions" tab at the top with "All", "Unread" sub-tabs and the "Last Post" column of the main content are the areas you might want to use/look at.

Also, on the "Last Post" column, it's not quite clear, but you can click the little "up-and-to-the-right" arrow to go to that actual post.

I'm pretty sure I managed to preserve all links from the old forum. They should auto-rewrite to the new, slightly different URL. If you notice one I missed, post here and let me know.

There's a flash of unstyled JS-injected content every time the page loads. Looking into it...

Thanks for taking the time to reply! So here's the main change that I see, and it took me a bit to figure out.

In the old setup, clicking a thread title would take you to the very beginning of the thread - first page, first post. To actually go to the first unread post in a thread you'd use that little icon to the left of the page numbers under the thread title, which was a hyperlink that would take you to the unread posts.

In the new Tapatalk layout that icon still exists, and you can hover over it to see that there *are* unread threads. But it's no longer a hyperlink. To actually go to the first unread all you have to do is click the thread title - in the new setup instead of taking you to the beginning of the thread this will take you back to where you left off.

Thanks again,

Incidentally, my threads with the "?view=unread#unread" suffix on the hyperlinks are actually taking me to posts from 2011 or 2016, depending on the thread. I assume this is some issue with the transition, and I'm marking forums read as I catch up on my reading. Hopefully that will fix things going forward.

Great work so far. Thanks for the updates.

RBB, Once you get caught up you can mark all of the forums read with one click from the Forums "tab".

A big Thank You to Walker (and anyone else involved) for your efforts to improve the forum. Yes, there's a learning curve, but I'm sure we'll all get the hang of it.

I also wanted to pop in and offer my thanks. I actually like the new layout, even if it will take a bit to get used to it. It is SUPER fast though. Great job to Walker and all others that may be involved. A huge improvement to say the least.

I don't personally care for the fact that I seem to have been signed up for Taptatalk without ever being so much as consulted. Not familiar with them and as a result I'm a bit leery of them. That said . . . they're unlikely to be any worse than a dozen other things I signed up for knowing full well what I was going. It is a lot faster. That much is nice. I wish there were a quicker link to unread posts, rather than needing to navigate back to the top of the page and through two other pages. And the layout feels a little cluttered at the moment. But I expect you guys will get that stuff resolved gradually. If Taptatalk is the price of speed I suppose I will live with it. And the rest is fixable. (And ultimately survivable.) Probably mostly just a matter of getting use to it. But yes, a step in the right direction, it would seem.

PostApr 17, 2019#74

Oh . . . one other small thought: I'm a little worried the "like" and "dislike" buttons could lead to the kind of knee-jerk reactions you see on Facebook or Youtube so very often. I worry that some of the discussions we try to have are already heated enough without adding kerosene in the form of instant click gratification. If there's a way to get rid of them . . . I think our discussion has been fairly healthy without them and I hope we can keep it that way.

First of all, thank you for all the hard work put into the update - the site loads so much faster now and is as responsive as I'd expect any modern website to be. The new look, while it'll take some getting used to, is fresh and modern, so kudos for that as well.

Minor issues for me: the post editors do not have any of the content/style options that the old version of the editors did on Chrome; they do on Edge, however. I cannot seem to get the forum style to switch to 'dark' mode on Chrome, either. I was able to on Edge (but not when tested on Firefox, either). Not a big deal at all, just a minor issue I figured I'd point it out.

Unsure whether either is a browser compatibility issue or if I just need to clear cookies/cache or something on my end, but I did that just earlier today.
