I post more because I don't get randomly logged out in the time it takes me to write a post.

^Valid point that. Also saves on frustration of losing what you potentially spent significant time writing.

Why I always made a point of selecting my post and hitting Ctrl+C before I'd post anything, particularly with long posts on the old version of the forum. Extremely frustrating to lose all that work (though usually recoverable with the back arrow or hitting the reply button again).
About a week after the update, the forum is still incredibly quick and responsive for me, and the issues I had getting dark mode and the editor options to work for me on Chrome are gone. I'm particularly enjoying how much easier to work with and more robust the post editor is. All glory to WYSIWYG editing.

Yes, going strong for me, and enjoying reading everyone's posts now that the forum is more active
This thread needs to be renamed: Forum layout Raving! The speed is the biggest difference. It used to take me all day just to read the new posts. Now I'm done by 10 AM and have to do real work the rest of the time.
Just gotta say, so happy that the load time on the forum has been fixed. I have been coming on and posting a lot more often now that I can actually reliably connect and not wait and have to refresh etc. Thanks!
Speed limited visits, ground covered during visits and was a roadblock to new participants. Hope to see some more people adding their perspectives now that the issues have been resolved.
Looks like the upgrade has worked wonders. Forum activity is way up, new members are joining, and some old long-forgotten members seem to have returned.
Thanks again to everyone who worked on this.

All right. I have an o-fee-shall complaint: There's now a time limit to edit or delete posts unless you go "VIP+". Which just hamstrung the crap out of my editing the 2019 projects post. And I'm still kind of annoyed that the "last unread post" feature doesn't seem to work right and that TTT keeps nagging me to confirm my e-mail address, which is really none of their concern. The UrbanSTL mods, sure, but I did that years ago. No real reason to redo it.
I'm back on this site now that it works on my computer again, the "old" site had stopped working on my computer entirely

I'm not knocking the improvements. Just mentioning that there are some downsides. And all told . . . I think I preferred the old-old site from before it stopped working: Bog standard BBS stuff not pretending it's some kind of mobile experience.
Oh yeah, the old site was nice, I was just expressing the fact that I was happy to finally be back on heresymphonicpoet wrote: I'm not knocking the improvements. ^Oh, I will agree that it's flipping fantastic that the site is no longer completely broken. It loads. You stay logged in. The basics work. Now it's time to talk design.
(And to be completely fair, the old-old site also wasn't perfect. No site ever really is, I suspect. There's always room to fix things. But time and money? . . . Maybe not so much. These are the two key reasons my own website isn't really anything particularly special: I haven't got the time to constantly update it and I don't have the money to pay someone else to do that.)
. . . So please don't take the criticisms too deeply to heart. They're minor suggestions, not "I'm taking my toys and leaving!" rants. I am, overall, quite happy with the job the mods are doing. And I value the things I read here.

Very minor gripe here: If I'm reading through thread, and it continues on a second page, when I hit the "return" arrow in my browser, I'm sent all the way back to the first page of the topic; not the one I was just reading. In other words, the discussion on page 8 continues on page 9, but if I want to back-up to 8 again, I'm sent all the way back to 1.
I have no idea how to fix that one... what's the "return" arrow in your browser? Can you post a screenshot?framer wrote: Very minor gripe here: If I'm reading through thread, and it continues on a second page, when I hit the "return" arrow in my browser, I'm sent all the way back to the first page of the topic; not the one I was just reading. Here you go. The arrows at the top left (just above the Urbanstl "Circle T") let you move forward or backward one page at a time. This is Microsoft Edge. Like I say, it's really no big deal, but I do sometimes like to go back and reread something within a thread.

That back arrow is part of your browser. It'll only take you back to page 8 when you're on page 9, if you got to page 9 by visiting page 8 first.framer wrote: Here you go. Hope that makes sense. (I tried it and it worked properly.)
Yeah, that's the way it's supposed to work, but it doesn't (at least not for me). I just went to the Landing Developments thread, clicked on the "most recent unread post", which opened on page 9. There was another post after that one, which appeared on page 10, so I clicked page 10 and read the last post. Then I hit the "back" arrow in the browser, and instead of returning me to page 9. it went all the way back to page 1.
Augh! I replicated the issue based on your feedback. I'll see what I can do!framer wrote: Yeah, that's the way it's supposed to work, but it doesn't (at least not for me). ^The issue is it is still looking for the most recent unread post and there no longer is one. The original link wasn't hard coded to take you to page 9, just the most recent unread. When you go to 10 and hit back it goes back through that search, comes up empty and defaults to the start of the topic.

At this point, this thread should honestly just be relabeled as the "Forum Technical Thread" or something haha.
Is there any way to do a 'multi-quote' on the forum (aside from manually copy/pasting text into a "quote")? Some other forum providers have that ability, and it's pretty nifty. If there isn't, is there any way one could be added? Not a big deal, but I'm curious.

any way to display the thread topic/title within the thread while scrolling? this makes me sound feeble-minded, but sometimes i forget which thread i am reading when i go back and forth between several. if the topic (e.g: "Ballpark Village") could be displayed in the individual replies (or ideally, the center of the grey/black header ribbon) it would clarify that for me. Thanks for all your efforts!

Not exactly what you want, but if you look at a thread's URL up in the address bar, it should have the thread name in it. I do agree that it would be nice to have a topic title that 'follows' your screen as you scroll, though.johnnyqnola wrote: any way to display the thread topic/title within the thread while scrolling? this makes me sound feeble-minded, but sometimes i forget which thread i am reading when i go back and forth between several. if the topic (e.g: "Ballpark Village") could be displayed in the individual replies (or ideally, the center of the grey/black header ribbon) it would clarify that for me.
