Not knowingly. Haven't touched any setting myself...rbb wrote: ↑Dec 13, 2019Did you forum admins remove the ability to log in from our old forum accounts? The forum used to not care but today I had to log in via my Tapatalk ID; my old forum account consistently returns a bad username/password error and I'm certain my credentials are correct.

I can't seem to figure out how to log in from a new browser. I usually use Chrome, but I can't get Tapatalk or whoever to recognize me in Firefox. I've tried every username/password combo I can think of.
Any ideas?

So this is a problem:

We apparently have autoplay video ads on urbanstl.com now. Personally I *hate* those, but I get it - advertising subsidizes the cost of running this place.
However those videos default to audio on (note the speaker icon in my system tray in the screenshot above indicating sound is playing from the browser). That's a problem for multiple reasons: reading the site in a public place, you have to make sure you're sound is down. And if you're listening to music or a podcast on the background while you're browsing the forum the video starting will cause that to pause every time you load a new page.
Finally, you can't always get to the controls to turn it off - note thread label blocking the video, and more importantly the pause button.
Is there something that can be done to tweak this? Is it different if you use Tapatalk?
Thanks,
-RBB

Mine don't play audio... not sure if there's setting somewhere to fix that?

Anybody else annoyed that now when you are reading unread threads and you get to the end it puts up a link for a previously read thread? It used to just not have a link when you got to the last unread thread before.
^ recently started having the same issue. Except I still had unread threads.
I still can't figure out how to log in to the Taptalk thing from Firefox. It doesn't seem to recognize me or my password.
Somehow on my last phone in Chrome I was able to swap the colors so the forum was white text on dark background. Anyone now how to do that?

Go to the forum home page and scroll all the way to the bottom. You’ll see settings where you can select “original” or “dark” versions along with font size.
Anyone having any recent login issues? I don't believe they are specific to urbanSTL but the Tapatalk system on the whole. Right now I'm able to get in so I figured I'd see if anyone has experienced any similar issues. Many times I go to log in and get an error "Token Expired" message. I'm not familiar with these tokens, and my searching through Tapatalk's main forum has several threads mentioning the issue but no real solution that I've been able to find yet.
Seems to just come and go. Couple days ago I couldn't log on all day. Then it just started working again for a few days. Happened again today, but only once so far. Seems to affect all my browsers (Safari, Firefox and Chrome) and both my laptop and mobile devices.
Edit: Do want to add one other thing I've noticed. Sometimes after posting a reply to a thread, the quote, edit, share, etc buttons seem to disappear:

Usually a quick browser refresh fixes the issue (especially on my laptop) but on my phone and sometimes on the computer those buttons will disappear for hours or a day or so, no matter how many different threads I check or how many times I shut off the browser and restart. Not really a major concern, more just a pain for when I'd like to edit a typo or something. Figured I'd make a note.

I have the same issues. If you are having the same problems then you can still access the forum through the tapatalk app
I was unable to login for a good 3 days last week. I know others were having issues during the same period. I created another Tapatalk account just in case but I've barely used it. So far, logging in on this account through the desktop version is still working for me.
I would guess not.gary kreie wrote: ↑Jul 25, 2020Do $$s going to support Tapatalk get to Urbanstl?

Don't recall setting up a monthly contribution to Tapatalk, but they are billing me $10/month. But I believe you are saying that $10/mo doesn't get to you at urbanist.com, right?walker wrote: ↑Jul 27, 2020If you use the donate button on this site, it goes to pay for our Tapatalk account and to renew our domain when necessary. Otherwise, we pay for it out of our own pockets.

Good. I'll keep doing it if it gets to you guys at urbanistl.com. If it only went some San Jose Tapatalk app pukes, I'd drop it and just use my laptop to sign in instead of the iPhone.walker wrote: ↑Jul 28, 2020Nope, it absolutely gets to us, and we appreciate it, but totally understand if you need to turn it off.
