Is Lester still considering the Hi-Pointe area? There are some GREAT areas in the city where he would do a killing! It's good that he seems somewhat cautious - his endeavors are succeeding wildly!
Ok. Just don't want to scare anybody from coming on and sharing...

If I were Lester, I'd open the next one with a 3 am. Just far enough to not compete with the first one, but close enough for the original crowd to have one more. Isn't the Cheshire a 3am space? He should just buy the place.

No, Lester backed out after somebody wrote something bad about him in the Post and he reacted like a spoiled child by killing the deal.

The part of the Cheshire Inn on the city line was 3am. The Fox and Hounds bar that's in the hotel is on the county side of the line and closes at 1am.

The old Hi Pointe Bar tried to get a 3am license but the Cheshire bar owners would get all the area residents to block their request.

The old Cheshire Lodge bar used to do killer business because it was a place for county kids to get a after 1am drink without having to go downtown and pay for parking. But when Halo Bar and Pin Up Bowl opened some of the Cheshire Lodge's business went there.

Isn't there a commercial development going into the northwester corner of McCausland/40? Is that the city or county?

Wow, I read it as F15 Teen! I had surmised a theme of pubescent pilots. :P

You referring to the Cheshire Inn? No, he apparently backed out of it as a result of hyper-sensitivity. He heard some critiques on a radio program he didn't take a liking to, and backed out. This from the guy that posted a full-page ad in the PD after receiving a less than stellar initial review for Busch's Grove. I suppose you can do that when you're a multi-millionaire.

BTW, Lester's is fantastic and full of Cougars.

Unfortunately, at my age, the cougars would probably be 70. :(

^That's funny.

Also, I wouldn't call the food at Lesters 'Bar Food'. To me, bar food is what Flannery's serves. It's unspectacular, something that puts sustenance in your stomach. Nothing more.

Lesters food is really good.

15 was pretty packed on Saturday night. very cool space, I really enjoyed the outdoor area. The place is huge, but is broken into individual areas nicely. I met one of the munchkins from Wizard of Oz, random. He told me his movie line, pretty cool stuff.

This is a start, along with Simply Fondue, Nectar, Pepper Lounge and Schlafly Tap Room, as well as the new residences, to connect downtown to midtown.

Fifteen is getting ripped for having a dress code that doesn't allow any sports team apparel.

That's a good way to keep the hoosiers out, which is probably what they are after. I would also ban baseball caps.

And flip flops.

This sounds like a nice place to go. I peeked in the window yesterday. Anyone know what the dress code is? Collared shirt I assume?

That would be my guess.

I think I had originally read that the upstairs was going to be really nice, as in jacket and tie perhaps.

Good. Frankly, we need more places with dress codes like this, not less. As someone in Bernie's Pressbox said, those that have a problem with this can always go to Hrabosky's Tool Shed instead. 8)

I was at F15teen Sunday night a took a couple pics - sorry you can't see more of the place . . . (sorry, I really couldn't resist!)

By the way, as I was leaving some Hoosier Cubs fan was getting irate outside because they wouldn't let him in. He was wearing a jersey and cap.

Don't you think it is just the least bit absurd, not to mention pecuniarily fatuous, for a bar/restaurant establishment, within walking distance of Busch Stadium and owned by a Cardinals player, to have a dress code that would effectively exclude 99% of Cardinals fans on game days?

^ It's not really the type of place one would go to directly after a game and it's about 18 blocks from the stadium - pretty much no one is going to be walking there from the ballpark.

That is the decision they made. We'll see how it works out.

I think it would only exclude 99% of the fans during the hot summer months, when everyone is wearing shorts. However, I am willing to wait to find out the details of the dress code. Maybe there will be exceptions.

It's not as much the sandals as the black socks you wear with them. 8)
