I completely agree..Slavic people are not ones who will take lightly to being pushed around. Also, man killed in north St Louis. 6 in 48 hours. 143 total.dbInSouthCity wrote:^ these idiots have no idea what they are getting themselves into with Bosnians...this will be messy if they keep targeting them

I'm glad the Bosnians are standing their ground. I'll support whatever method they think they need to end this crap.
If they need to get medieval, I'm all for it.

I think since Missouri is now open carry the people of the Bosnian community should consider this it could send a message and end this s***t. Since the police are so inept.
Violent crime is completely out of control. On one hand, I wish the police would do a better job. On the other, and perhaps this is a unique perspective as a second generation Italian American, I've been raised to not trust the police. I'm sure it's similar to the perspective of some minorities. I guess what I'm saying is while I wish they'd do a better job, I also believe the police do a horrible job of self accountability.
Consolidate into one STL police force. The savings would be there for more police and body cameras for all. The current trajectory of policing and police perception is woefully inadequate. Yet we all blindly give them our tax money. Everybody. Blacks, whites, all residents.
Example: I routinely buy homes in Velda City and Velda Village Hills. The Velda Village police have a very clean "neighborhood stabilization" vehicle. It's a freaking hummer H1. It's almost the size of the entire city hall and police building for Velda city, located at Myron and Maywood east of Lucas and Hunt. It was purchased by predatory police citing. It's distastefully ironic. It's never moved in the years I've been going there. It lords over the residents of that neighborhood as a reminder of what they paid for versus the level of service they get.

Yes, because the Bosnians arming themselves will definitely end this cycle of violence. I don't know why we haven't thought of that before!i,Iive,to,draw wrote:I think since Missouri is now open carry the people of the Bosnian community should consider this it could send a message and end this s***t. Over in KC yesterday, a Somali Christian ran over and killed a 15 yr. old Somali Muslim in an apparent hate homicide. Earlier in the year in the KC area, an old white man from *hole, MO went on a murderous rampage and killed a couple of people outside a Jewish Center. Last week NAACP marchers were met by a racist horde complete with the N-Clang in Rosebud. What the hell year is this, Missouri/ah?

If a Bosnian actually shot and killed a black person would it not be considered a hate crime? As i say all lives matter not just black lives. This country is so far in a mess that its depressing to even live here at times. I said before St.Louis is on pace for over 150 murders. Thats astronomical for a city barely hanging on to a population of 300,000.. The issue may be with the police and how they've been clumsily handling things with the recent crap thats been going on but the real issue is the continued black on black crime that shows no signs of slowing down in our urban areas. I really wish there was an answer to all of this to make sense of it but only thing i can wish for is peace in St.Louis and in our country...Ebsy wrote:Yes, because the Bosnians arming themselves will definitely end this cycle of violence. I'd argue that those are pretty much the same issues, or at least deeply intertwined ones. And there should really be a moratorium on mentions of "black on black crime"--it's a meaningless red herring for people to say, "Oh, there might be these police killings, but what about all those blacks killing each other?"The issue may be with the police and how they've been clumsily handling things with the recent crap thats been going on but the real issue is the continued black on black crime that shows no signs of slowing down in our urban areas.

I think a mess exodus of the remaining bosnians in the city is about to happen and it's because of these 2 latest incidents and the lack of voice in city governmemt. Slay has a very little time to act if he wants to stop the bleeding, he needs to appoint a bosnian in his administration, some sort of liaison. If he doesn't, I would guess about 1000-1500 will leave and 10-15 business. South city, esp. bevo/dutchtown/eastern edges of Southampton and Princeton Heights cannot afford those loses
It's not a hate crime just because a Bosnian shoots a black person. If they murdered a black person just for being black, then that's a hate crime. Shooting someone who is assaulting you with a hammer is self-defense. And with that said, I'd prefer to be the one that brought a gun to a hammer fight.TheNewSaintLouis wrote:If a Bosnian actually shot and killed a black person would it not be considered a hate crime? Sadly we haven't had a day go by yet this month without a homicide...
http://www.kmov.com/news/crime/Victim-f ... 97161.html
Over the course of the past 6 months we've had a homicide rate of over 60 per 100,000, which is an extraordinary number. For the year we'll likely wind up with the largest raw total since 2008 and second highest since 1996 and quite possibly the highest rate since 1995. Instead of getting into record low territory like many cities, we're incredibly back to rates seen during America's peak killing fields.

^ again, i can't help but think the vast majority of these homicides are related to a substantial uptick in drug activity, for whatever reason.

It's all about drugs...
"Very often, the victim and the offender will both be criminally involved – involved in the drug trade.”

Sounds like a nice productive meeting and tone.

It should be noted that there's been a few Bosnian community members quoted over the past couple of weeks that they're committed to making the area better and safer, and they've stated plainly that they are not leaving.

^ I'm not sure if anyone keeps an official "County" number b/c of all of the different departments.... I wouldn't doubt it is up as well though.
edit.... according to the homicide map at stltoday it looks like maybe 30 or so homicides in the county but I don't know how that compares to prior years:

NOT ST.LOUIS but in Chicago last night I was robbed at gun point in the near north side after going on a walk with my wife from the hotel. None of us were hurt but I been robed in Chicago twice now and I am thinking why is St. Louis seen as more dangerous place and not Chicago. Never was robed in STL any time I went to the city and never saw any crime happen too. But Chicago is seen as safer I would never understand why.

We were walking on north Lasalle around 11:45 pm and turned on west elm. A guy walked up to us asking for directions to the EL then while we look at our map then he told us he was robbing us we thought he was joking until the gun came out. So I gave him my cell and he snatched it and ran off the way he came. He did not ask for my wallet and my wife did not have her purse so I guess he wanted to sell my phone. So we walk back to Lasalle and my wife flag down a cop car. The police were great too ask the right questions and even gave us a ride back to the hotel. My wife was spoked after the ordeal but This was the 4th time robed but 2 of the times were not in Chicago. ( she never been robed before)
Bosnians going to get pissed... another incident Friday:
