Agree to disagree.dweebe wrote:Dude, chill. I already know I don't need to read CS's posts. In fact that's why I have him on my ignore list. The only problem I have is when multiple pages of a thread involve CS sniping and it being quoted. Those don't get hidden. Plus it sends the real discussion off track.
Longtime reader, but still, you win the cool contest.I'm not a moderator and you're not a moderator so we don't get a say in the matter. This is someone else's pool and we're just playing in it. Besides, you've got 39 posts and have been here only a few weeks. Who died and made you God?
I just said I liked reading their posts, isn't having them ignored enough? All I was requesting that CS take the snarky comment meter down from 9.9 (out of 10) to 7 or and 8. I wasn't asking for him to be banned or for him to totally shut up.
You were voicing your opinion, as we all do on this forum. Post counts are overrated, as opposed to THE Count. Personally, I'd encourage the mods to allow forum members to duke it out, as long as it's not at the stltoday level. Makes for a lively conversation.
Anybody know where that documentary on gangs in St. Louis link is? I know it is on here somewhere. I tried looking on Youtube and could only find it translated into German (??). Thanks.
Is this the video from a British journalist? A local gang member gets high with the cameras in a basement of an abandoned home wearing a crazy mask. Then wipes his head and says "I wipe my mask like it's sweat you smell me"? Ha HaTGE-ATW wrote:Anybody know where that documentary on gangs in St. Louis link is? I know it is on here somewhere. Didn't there used to be a thread on here, with a link to the documentry? I bet if you searched it, you may find it.
yeah, there was, but I couldn't find it. I thought it was buried in the marathon crime thread. It seems that on Youtube there is now just that one segment with the "you smell me" guy (terrifying by the way) and the entire version.....in German...Any help would be appreciated.

Update sent out to officers:
"The ventilator has been removed from Officer Lucas Roethlisberger and he is doing well at this time. He has movement of all extremities but seems to struggle some with his left arm. He is able to communicate with family members. The doctors have asked that there be no visitors at this time.
Please continue to keep Officer Roethlisberger and his family in your prayers along with Officer Kallal and his family."

The Grand Center beat cop was walking around today looking into parked cars. If he found anything tempting (shopping bag, radar detector, etc.) he left an official looking notice on the windshield warning the vehicle owner of their risky behavior.
Sounds like a good idea to me.

I heard on the news this morning that there is supposed to be a DWI checkpoint somewhere in the city tonight. Anybody know if they might kill two birds with one stone and put it down on Washington? That would provide a high police presence in the area on a busy night and give them an excuse to hold a magnifying glass to the cars passing through. Just a thought.

Murder two blocks from my house last night in TGE.
Murder two blocks from my house last night in TGE.
It seems like homicides have really taken off the past couple of weeks. I've also been reading on the TGE site about a dramatic increase of crime there.

Sorry to hear that. By appearances it seemed to be a case of them getting each other but unsettling still.wheelfru wrote:http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/crim ... 78c22.html

TGE is great but there have been shady blocks and characters in the neighborhood for quite some time.
According to the police liaison for the neighborhood, the victim was 22 years old, already had 26 (yes, 26) felony arrests for weapons, burglary, robbery etc (with zero prosecutions W.T.F. is that?), and did not live in the neighborhood. As far as other crime, there was a rash of burglaries at the end of the summer, but the police nabbed two separate perps in the act and, to my knowledge, the home burglaries have stopped. Meanwhile, the rehabbers are back at it in TGE and the surrounding area and the good citizens won't be chased out by crap like this. In fact, there is a citizen patrol starting up in the neighborhood to put more eyes on the street. The shooting is a shame, but this guy had more felonies under his belt than years. Live by the sword...

A friend who lives in the 3500 block of Halliday just had a B&E where they smashed her back door in. I'm not sure how but she says they caught them a couple of blocks away.
Over here in Shaw we just had an armed robbery a block away around 5pm just a couple of days ago.

It's very common for people in inner cities to have a huge rap sheet and not do any time. Individuals don't snitch combined with the fact a lot of witnesses that do testify have a large rap sheet and aren't credible witnesses. Therefore unless a model citizen witnesses the crime and is able to testify a lot of criminals go free. Most conviction rates in large cities are only about 15-20 %. This a a good article about the problem in Chicago and pertains to all other cities.TGE-ATW wrote:According to the police liaison for the neighborhood, the victim was 22 years old, already had 26 (yes, 26) felony arrests for weapons, burglary, robbery etc (with zero prosecutions W.T.F. is that?), and did not live in the neighborhood. Not only was I close enough to hear the gunshots that murdered the man in Tower Grove East earlier this week, I also witnessed a possible crime at the Credit Union at 14th and Washington yesterday evening.
I was walking west on Washington at about 5:30 PM when a patrol car pulled up the curb, and a police officer ran to the front door of the credit union with his gun drawn. Needless to say I ran pretty fast past the place and didn't look back. About a minute later another patrol car came speeding down Washington to help (I can only assume). Anyone here or witness what happened?
City is going crazy this week - NOT COOL.

Didn't hear anything. Why did you run? It's fun watching the action go down.
