OMG, screw the Army Corps of Engineers! So sick and tired of federal bureaucrats running everything! They need to get out of the way.

We did just fine 200 years ago without all these freakin regulators. It's an industrial riverfront not a wetland! Expedite the approval process for criminies sake. It's not like they're damning the floodplain with a huge levee!

(Besides, from the preliminary plans, it looks as if they've designed the site/grades to take on significant flooding).

If it were up to the Army Corps, there'd be no lower Manhattan or San Francisco Embarcadero.

Get on with it!

^Its not our flood plain they worry about. Its how the river affects the multitude of citizens down river.

C'mon, this project is nothing compared to the damning of the floodplain for the Chesterfield Valley TIF district!

From a purely aesthetic point of view, the STL riverfront design and location is much nicer than the Inglewood location.

Maybe Stan's imagination will be excited by the opportunity to redesign the STL riverfront?

I don't know how Craig Heller's Loftworks problems though may have had an impact on it moving forward.

Keep waiting!!!!
I agree that it's more complicated than "this is awful" but I find your argument somewhat troubling too. Just because there's not a lot of activity in an area means we should flatten it all and pave it over as soon as someone presents a pretty rendering? I feel like that's the kind of all-or-nothing thinking that's partly gotten the city to where it is today. And all to keep the Rams around? Maybe it's worth it. Maybe not.

By 2020, I hope to have a car that will drop me off in front of the Stadium and go park somewhere cheap. Or I'll just park across the river and take a river taxi across. I suggest they go slow on demolition of all the old warehouses in the proposed parking lot until they figure out if folks will want to park there. Then they can could use historic tax credits on all those old warehouses for bars for those of us who prefer indoor tailgating in the winter. Can anyone say Footballpark Village?

This elevated greenway thing looks pretty interesting.... it looks like it is lined with four 60' wide commercial buildings with structured parking underneath the greenway. These buildings in combination with the redeveloped power building could serve as a year-round part of the development.

Just me or is it the extensive surface parking a non-negotiable thing in its existence? (the locations could be up for discussion and moving around) Since with that part you have to accept it or have no stadium, or have it somewhere else.

Probably because they'll offer it to Kronke as an additional revenue stream. I don't think the Rams get any parking revenue right now.

Wow. Just goes to show you how bad reporting is. So many mistakes go out in print it makes your head spin.

Serious question: do you think Peacock and the governor's office contacted any of the property owners impacted by this proposal? I think that would be a really interesting thing to know.

Unfortunately, parking is the evil necessity. Almost EVERY major city with professional sports teams have stadiums with a sea of parking around them. Truthfully, with this proposal, St. Louis would have fewer parking lot spaces than a lot of cities. Also, if the lots are landscaped well, it could soften the appearance.

Paul Brown Stadium parking: Cincinnati

NRG (Formerly Reliant) Stadium parking: Houston

Royals and Chiefs Stadiums parking: Kansas City

Dallas Stadiums parking: AT&T and Rangers Ballpark in Arlington

Pittsburgh Stadiums parking

Philadelphia Sports Complex parking
