^Message sent. We'll see where it goes. Will ask again next weekend if I've not heard before then.
Sounds like that's a miss on my part. But I sent you a PM suggesting you contact an organization called VLAA, which might be able to help.
I don't think there is a know to a public timeline of this project. At the August 2nd meeting held by TCA there was several homeowners who were quite vocal against the QT proposal. The TCA Board emphasized that their recommendation for this project is negative. The representative of QT was at the meeting (with their lawyer sitting next to her) to hear what people say, but didn't talked. Just listened. They showed "beautiful" projections of their future baby (attached below, nightmare as all of their gas stations).

+1
^ Beauty is subjective...to a point. Here's to hoping this never sees the light of day. Glad to hear there was some vocal opposition.

I can't believe this is even an option.
Saint Louis University has their nice gate thing right there.
What says "nice university" better than a gas station at your decorative entrance?
Edit: They have another gas station, a Circle K, within eyeshot of their other decorative entrance, so at least they're consistent. Maybe their marketing and recruiting departments knows something that I don't.

From my experience very few SLU students drive or have their cars with them in St. Louis, so who exactly is the gas station for?
So, can they still build this even without public/immediate neighborhood support given the 353 status? Not sure if anyone was able to solicit an answer.
I feel like we've all seen this charade of 'process' in the past. Though, neighborhood vetting has killed many a sound project in immediate memory (Skinker/Delmar, looking at you).

I haven't seen any movement on the things I think they need to move forward. I wonder if they'll wait (or have to wait for any hope at progressing) for a new alderperson next year.

haha, why bother with renders. You are not gonna convince anyone with renders of a QuikTrip. Guess what when we said we wanted to build a QT, this is what a QT is? Weird.
I stand pat. OK (not excited, but resigned) with QT at that location, but no to permanent street closure.

Who bother with renders? Me or QT?
You're resigned to accept the QT? Or did I misunderstand?
The evidence suggests the opposition has the upper hand at the moment.

Unrelated to QT, but related to SLU Med....
Is that medical building that was planned for the front of the new SLU Med parking garage still going to happen?

^ I also have the same question.
According to this BJ article it was supposed to break ground in the fall of 2021 and complete sometime in 2023. As far as I know it hasn't moved forward yet.

Maybe the signature QT rendering looking north up Grand finally convinces people/neighborhood/SLU what they are truly really getting out of the deal. As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words and QT probably wishing that specific rendering would have never been released to the public.

Was laughing at QT. Why does QT bother with renders especially of something that just shows how ugly the gas station will ultimately be. Struck me as comical. The forum is the forum, stuff goes up for discussion good bad and ugly QTs.quincunx wrote: ↑Sep 19, 2022Who bother with renders? Me or QT?

Yes resigned to QT but not as planned. If its blocked I won't cry about it.

There is already a gas station nearby. As far as I have heard, there are not long queues at the gas pumps at the BP station, indicating the need for another gas station.

I don't understand why municipalities would want gas stations anymore considering a future where they are obsolete is well within sight.

Doesn't really matter if that BP exists in QT's eyes - they know the traffic counts of this intersection and realized there's an opportunity. People will stop here rather than driving further to get to that BP.Ebsy wrote: ↑Sep 21, 2022There is already a gas station nearby. No one here on UrbanSTL thinks this gas station is a good idea, not arguing that it is. But it does make business sense to QT to build it.
Because it's 'something', which in the eyes of the lazy, is better than 'nothing'.RockChalkSTL wrote: ↑Sep 21, 2022I don't understand why municipalities would want gas stations anymore considering a future where they are obsolete is well within sight.

I wouldn't be able to make it, but I would if I could.
A QT at this location would be a travesty.
