^Interesting. No worries. I know PPG sold their Mt. Zion, Illinois glass factory that made a lot of the specialty glass used in skyscrapers, but I believe their other factories in Pennsylvania are still able to make the same products. That said, different types of silicon and other minerals can impact the exact chemical makeup and hues when it's being manufactured. It was a major plant for Solarban and Sungate.

They removed the Windows from The bigger corner building (formerly the lifestyle center). I think they might wait to bring it down on the 17th. There is a sign that says the right lane will be closed 3/17-3/23
License Bureau building is gone.

I wonder how many, if any, employees or jobs will be relocated from California now that the Net Health deal as been approved? Could we see some of the spill over at Centene's Ferguson call center? That deal is a big win for Centene and wondering how big of a big win it will be for the region?
Now if Acension Health could at least find its way to the central corridor or maybe even anchor a new CWE/CORTEX building

Still no renderings or site plans?! Wow. I'm a little shocked by that.
^ & ^^
I think the answer lies in the intersection of what you're both saying.
Centene's purchase of Health Net is going through a rigorous review process by two California regulators (although they just got approval from one of them). Centene's probably doing everything they can to appease those regulators, including not supporting the perception that they will move California jobs to St. Louis by releasing renderings of a splashy new headquarters.
Obviously, Centene's growing, would probably need the space anyways, and could add jobs in California, but right now they're probably walking on egg shells so would rather keep Clayton office and employment expansion plans hushed. I don't think we'll see renderings until after the California Department of Insurance provides it's approval, and maybe not until the deal formally closes soon after that.

Gosh you guys are needywabash wrote:So, is the corner building gone?

Over lapping departments like accounting, finance etc will be terminated in California and taken over by Missouri people.
Health net was purchased for 2 reasons...because Centenes move into Medicare and to fend off being purchased. Centene is making lots of money right now and they currently suck at Medicare so they aren't going to mix things up too much for fear of losing talent they need to master Medicare. Just my 2cents

I'll bet there's a rendering somewhere inside Centene's current HQ. Now let's see, who do we know that seems to be in that building almost every day that could do some snooping?chaifetz10 wrote:Still no renderings or site plans?! Wow. I'm a little shocked by that.
Thanks for the update and insight Moorlander. And interesting saran wrap roof - what a mess!

FWIW, they have renderings, and they even have models built. But the project is very very top secret - no idea why? The Architecture firm doesn't even know when they plan to release them either.
Wabash comments make a lot of sense. Centene is about to become much bigger and has to be very sensitive to what is going on with Net Health acquisition. But I think they have finally have gone from denial to no comment phase

Has Centene announced which architecture firm is doing the project yet? Probably a good thing to ask before I get in trouble for mentioning who it is...

Okay - I didn't know for sure... that being said, my source said they took the model over for a closed door meeting at Centene this week with them. Only a handful of the people were even allowed to know what the models look like... super super secret. Even more so than the stadium she said.

How funny will it be when they finally release a rendering and it's just another glass box. All these secrets for an anticlimactic building.
^ Yes, but will it be another glass box on top of parking or glass box next to a parking garage?
Downtown/Cortex/City are not the only ones competing against the free parking next to a I64 interchange crowd greenfield development crowd. Clayton CBD might draw the best lease rates but you will still see the parking. Even Maryland Heights & Westport/LHM contrived a tax subsidy for WWT employee parking garage.
