Nextstl has a new Centene article back up on the main page now. Looks like the same content as the previous one to me, or extremely similar. Site clearing has begun.

Does Centene also own that patch of empty grass to the south of their glass box? Do they have plans for it or is it like the downtown plaza that the Ambassador Theater once stood on? (Doesn't anyone else often think that HoK designs generally suck?)

^Yes, Centene owns the grassy knoll. That's where they originally planned the phase II tower, but looks like plans have changed.

All I can do about this Centene project is hope it doesn't take another couple hundred jobs from Downtown STL.

The new parking garage with the wind feature is at capacity now so any new tower on the grassy knoll would require an additional parking garage. I'm sure they decided they wanted the new tower on the same side of the street as the new parking garage.

Buildings will be down soon and grass planted. Designs will be submitted to the city in about 6 weeks unless Centene decides to dump HOK. Michael Neidorf was visibly PISSED today about the leak (to NextSTL).

^ Have to chuckle, went back to the nextstl story and can't figure what exactly was leaked concerning Centene II other then except the obvious pictures of warning tape and drill truck taking core samples. Maybe the references to # of stories and boutique hotel but believe boutique hotel has been discussed as part of phase II as per request of the city. Unless I'm missing something here.

Ehh, probably more along the lines of just not liking the fact that people are talking when they shouldn't be. If this is leaking, what other proprietary information might be getting leaked too?

We love the leaked info, but from an organization standpoint, I can understand why they may not.

Greeeeeaaaaaat. Hopefully this "Phase II" grassy knoll doesn't hang around as long as the first one.

Jersey barriers are up and a large (demo?) crew is present.

PostFeb 23, 2016#587

Centene doesn't skimp on construction fencing. They're painting everything!

^Not even in the slightest. Directly related to the developer and/or marketing of the project. I've seen some pretty nasty construction fencing.

They're even painting the concrete barriers to match.

^ I believe PD noted that other tenants are expected to fill some of the 500,000 square feet.

Another note about that number, it is essentially the proposed amount of space of Cortex US Metals site if not mistaken. Still believe Cortex/Wexford need to get their hustle on with Centene phase II moving forward and another office tower most likely breaking ground in Clayton CBD. Clayton CBD is going to have 100-200k of Class A space on the market.

I'm really anxious to see if the new tower will be a twin to the first, or if it will be a completely different design.

If it's a twin It won't be the same glass. I hear that glass is not longer manufactured.

Do you know who the glass supplier was? I have a hunch that it was probably a PPG product: either Solarban, Sungate, or Starphire. I tried looking it up on Emporis, but I don't have the access to see the supplier.
