i pretty sure people on here could care less about popularity. (i know I don't care) However some people know each other outside of the forum and others are just familiar with what others from thier previous posts... If all the posts were strictly new info, this forum sure would get steril in a hurry.

The more posts a person makes on here, the more everyone gets acquainted with their personality, lifestyle, political views, jobs, and most importantly, knowledge. I consider myself a forumer with little knowledge of the goings on (updates on projects/ inside information etc) but with pretty strong views and I flatter myself that I contribute to conversations.
However, every once in a while, a simple post of "
" is very appropriate and says more than words can...
Most people are not interested in getting the most posts. Do you think Doug cares about having over 2000 posts or reaching 3000 as quickly as possible? No, hes just totally addicted

Sorry Downtown STL Fan, you are absolutely correct. This thread should be about Ballpark Village, not idle chat of which I have been guilty. People come to this thread for specific information about this project. Pages of idle chat with the occasional tidbit of information is of little value. This is true of any thread related to a particular building or project. There are other threads available, like Urban Living, for those of us that enjoy getting to know each other, sharing our views, heated discussions, etc. I will say that very few of us are just trying to increase our post numbers, we are just too talkative.
I hope everyone understands what I am saying and will join discussion in the appropriate threads and and help keep threads like this on topic.
I was walking by yesterday, and I thought it looked like a place where we dropped one of those thousand pound bombs. A huge crater surrounded by chopped up concrete and barriers with vegetation growing inbetween.
I really can't believe that the Cardinals haven't even put up a "Coming Soon" sign on the site. You'd think they'd want everyone to see what's coming and get excited about it.
Rest assured DSLF. If a Cordish or DeWitt so much as walked over to The Pit and kicked over a chunk of concrete, there would instantly be 20 pages of discussion about it. You aren't missing anything.Downtown STL Fan wrote:OK. I think I get it now! Content doesn't mean anything on this web site. There was an article in the P-D this morning about Cordish facing delays on the P&L District in KC. I don't think the article is up on the Post's web site yet.
KC gets a Gordon Biersch! As I posted months ago, this microbrewery chain from the coasts gets a 10-plus from me when I travel. IMHO, they represent the caliber of chain that would be a perfect fit for St. Louis.

I was at the GB in Columbus, OH recently and I don't see how it's different, or better, than Schlafly - our very own microbrewery.

Funny I was there last year. I thought it was decent, but it's more like a Ruby Tuesday's in atmosphere than a local kitchy place if you get my drift.
For the type of crowd the BV is attracting, I don't think it would be a bad fit or take away business from the Tap Room.
edit: I meant Ballpark Village not Bottle District

I didnt mean that the more post you make the more popular you become, i meant that the more pages a thread takes the greater its importance. Besides i know im already like at least the 11th most popular guy on this forum.
Sometimes (ballpark village), we (ballpark village) can (ballpark village) get (ballpark village) a (ballpark village) little (ballpark village) off (ballpark village) topic (ballpark village).
Since theres no news I think babble is the only thing keeping the thread going. Been months since any real news. However I do enjoy reading babble. Am I now contributing to it?
Bernie's Bits had a 'Free Ballpark Village' as it's lead in. I thought it was a nice touch.
^that's because someone called him on his radio show yesterday and asked him about BPV. He said that the next time he has Mr. Dewitt on his show he will ask him about it.
Just wanted to throw out that HOK has changed their website. Not sure exactly when it happened, but they've got a new page for Ballpark Village. Unfortunately, the site is Flash-based, so I can't give a direct link, but if you go to the 'Urban Design' page, you'll see the project listed. I don't have the best memory as to the images they've shown in the past, so I'm sorry if there isn't anything new... like I said, just wanted to point it out.
Also, hi to all. Been reading posts on here for about a month. Great place... even though discussions go off on wild tangents from time to time

Welcome!
Those aren't even the new renderings. Anyone else think that's odd?

I thought they were breaking ground in August. I'll only be concerned if nothing has happened on the site by September.
