Didn't mean it like that at all. I meant just people going in. They don't want people in there. That is all.

i'm not worked up about it - just making an observation. certainly you've noticed how people on this forum regard hipsters. so when you (directly or indirectly) call someone a hipster it's not exactly a compliment. i was just wondering, why the slight?

anyway, i'll shut up. on with the topic!

I think hoosiers and douchebags rank higher on the Urban St. Louis Hierarchy of Disdain.

On a more serious note, I'd love to see some news related to The Arcade, especially now that it looks like construction work at The Laurel (ex-Stix Baer & Fuller/Dillard's) may move forward in the not-so-distant future after all.

Here is a bit of good news on a dreary day where one of my favorite downtown businesses closed.

In today’s Business Journal the LRA blighted the Arcade this week and authorized a search for a developer.

Just Sold to Bank of America for what they lended it for....$9 million.
Lina Galinurova, an associate with [CompanyWatch allows you to receive email alerts with stories related to your companies of interest.
You can watch up to ten companies at a time.
] Cardinal Realty Group, attended the auctions Wednesday on behalf of a prospective California-based buyer for the Arcade. She wouldn't disclose the identity of the buyer but said the company would initiate talks with Bank of America to pursue ownership of the Arcade.

So does anyone know when they plan on rehabbing the Arcade?

Well the group that just bought it is going to weather proof it so no more damage can be done. Then they plan to sell it back to the city so they can find a proper developer.

So.... 3 years until rehab?

The question should be... Arcade or BPV will start first?

^ The Arcade 1st. (anyone think that BPV will never be what was proposed (and that the Cardinals will likely never pay a fine of any kind)(that's for the BPV thread of course)?)

What? So they are going to unload it to the city and not develop it? If thats the case then it will take 3 years before they even start work. This has David Jump written all over it.

St. Louis will freeze over first. Never mind, that's already happened.

You're basically correct, but it's still a necessary step and represents a move forward.

The Business Journal is reporting that the city has taken ownership of the Arcade and will be issuing an RFP.

What is a RFP? So the city bought the building from the buyer who just purchased it. I would assume now the city is going to try and find a buyer or developer.

I'm assuming they're going to use the same process that they used with the Syndicate Building, choosing the best proposal they receive.

Someone will probably propose that in order to rehab the Arcade, they have to tear down the Wright for parking.

One reason some at pyramid supported the destruction of the Century is was to have ample parking for the PB and A/W. At least that was the thinking when I worked there.

MIRED IN LAWSUITS

April 9th, 2010 | Author: Jerry Berger

John Steffen’s defunct Pyramid Construction is being sued by a bevy of businessmen for $800,000 by Barket R.E., $350,000 by Sam Glasser and a bundle by a group known as the Sunset Hills Guys. But, that’s not the item. It seems 30 days after foreclosure on the $9 million Arcade Building, the city bought it for $2 million. Where did the other $7 million go?, wonder the investors. They’re also in a quandary as to why Pulaski Banks financed the empty building. Don’t ask me, ask attorney Steve Stogel, who orchestrated the negotiations.
