Sales tax in the City just went up another 4/10th of a percent, as of October 1st. Not that that's causing sales problems, but it doesn't help.
Stumbled upon this old picture thread from 2013. It's a reminder of how much work was needed to bring this back up to modern standards, something I don't think would have been accomplished without tax credits.

Behind the Visitors Center at 7th & Washington. I've never actually been in but they have some cool shirts and things. Mostly a resource center for special passes and information. They don't have a lot of window space right now so while there is less foot traffic in that part of downtown, it's a more exposed space.
Sorry I can't get excited about a government agency taking up such supposedly prime space - though if the only other choice is "vacant", I guess I'm not allowed to complain.

Webster University is seeking to sublease their 54,500 square foot space on the first 2 floors of the Arcade Building.
The space includes classrooms, conference rooms, offices, a 160-seat auditorium, a retail space, and 40 underground parking spaces.
Their lease runs through October of 2035, but they haven't held classes there since 2022.
They say they have gotten some interest from possible tenants in the healthcare and education sectors, including a charter school.

IMO this is a super cool space and a university like UMSL should figure something out here instead of dumping $100M on their hellscape campus that literally no one likes. Will be interesting to see what, if anything, happens here.
