It's a move, not a new opening, and it's also nothing large scale so I'm not sure if this is what you had in mind, but London Tea Room will open on Morganford in TGS sometime in the coming months, I believe.

Also, Local Harvest Cafe in TGS will or just did close and re-open in about 2 weeks as LHC (the LH still standing for Local Harvest, but the C being flexible to fit many new themes) with a different set up and an evolved theme. I assume there's changes to what the grocery will carry as well, but I"m not sure.

Sun Theater renovation and opening - Don't know how much it will book outside the high school but at 600 seats it seems like it will have a wider mission then just a venue for GCAA

Modern Brewing should open sometime this year

Also

The Cortona at Forest Park

And

Wash U Loop housing/Global Foods

That should have an interesting impact on Forest Park - opposite sides- over 500 units - Probably will mean an uptick in daily aprk use

It looks like Laclede Lofts will also be online in 2014.

PostJan 18, 2014#6

Tower Grove Mews is purring along. I've added it and other projects at the top of the thread. Are any of the downtown loft projects slated to come online this year?

Shouldn't the new Mercedes dealership at Hampton and Clayton be finished in 2014.

Off the subject a little, noticed the building at the northeast corner of Manchester and Tower Grove are recently boarded up with the Gills rehab restoration insigna on the plywood. Will this group of storefronts be ready for 2104?

^ yeah, renovation and occupancy of that building and occupancy of the one across the street are really needed. I believe there is a plan to have the NW corner building renovated into a Reliance Bank with drive-through and maybe residential on the top floor. I'm not sure of its status though, or what is up with the deteriorating, recently boarded up building on the NE corner.

And I think you're right on the Mercedes dealership.

^Thanks. Added up top along with t-rex move into Lammert.

Was going to add GenAm renovation for Laclede Gas but I think that move won't happen until next year or 2016. Thinking maybe of adding Significant Construction Starts to include things like IKEA, Whole Foods, McKinley Research Building, etc.

Updated for Laclede's Landing Plaza and 3rd St. Streetscape expected completion.
http://www.stltoday.com/business/local/ ... c5980.html

So far, Drury’s only solid proposal is to build a seven-level, 540-vehicle garage near Third and Morgan streets. The first level of the garage’s west side facing the elevated section of Interstate 70 would include vendor spaces to complement a plaza to be developed along and beneath the freeway.

Miller said Landing garage construction could begin this year, depending on the timing to remove the Arch garage.

Clark said Thursday the reworked Landing plaza, scheduled to be done this spring, will include sculptures and clearly marked walkways to better connect the Landing to the rest of downtown.

PostJan 28, 2014#12

Reluctant to add it, but updated for the apparent demo of existing Commerce Bank building and construction of new one at Manchester and Vandeventer in the Grove.

PostFeb 06, 2014#13

updated to include the conversion of vacant, beautiful St. John's UMC in the CWE into Link Auction Galleries and the expected commencement of S. Kingshighway viaduct replacement.

I have knowledge of and/or am working on a few different projects right now that could start this year, but it's way to soon to talk details of anything. How's that for a tease?

Very excited about Sun Cafe opening and the potential of a Hyde Park rebirth.

There's some beautiful old brick beauties remaining around all sides of Hyde Park, proper (both well-maintained and otherwise), and still a pretty strong semblance of community. Sure, there's been some demos and decay, but it hasn't included the devastating permanence and steep decline other northside neighborhoods encountered.

Count me among those who hopes for some more quality rehabs and swift infill around Hyde Park that respects the lot lines, materials and design of its remaining buildings. A few years down the road, the momentum/growth of this vital puzzle piece, when couple with neighboring Old North's efforts could create a pretty noticeable improvement in our Near North Side.

Now to get everyone else to break with decades-old tradition and reconsider or move past their opinions of the North side...

added 24 unit suburban-style single-family housing development by McBride called Mississippi Bluffs. I think the design has crushed the soul of stl-style: http://stl-style.com/_blog/STL-Style_Bl ... -st-louis/

I find it hard to believe that Cultural Resource Office would approve of the nasty suburban designs that are circulating. Will look out for the meeting minutes though they can take months sometimes. The Agenda mentions 23 townhomes in 6 buildings.
