Interesting. Not a bad. I really had no idea what to expect, but I like what I see so far.

I was so surprised. As of last year I thought that building would have had to be torn down, but the changes that have been made, primarily the recoloring, have made it a nice striking building. I am so pleased.

It is looking pretty nice. I wonder what will cover the large expanse of cinder blocks on the SW corner?

Also, for those who can't see behind the construction fence, they have completely blown out the former store fronts. So there is a lot of opportunity to do something nice there.

I took some pictures over a couple of days.

The design doesn't seem too bad. It adds a little more gloss or sheen to Washington Avenue. It gives a contemporary vibe. Can't wait to see it completed.

I wonder what is planned for the cinderblock portion. I think a shiny steel metal skin over that portion would make the building look awesome.

This is looking really good so far. I'm glad they're completely redoing the street level retail space. And I'd like to see some sort of metal (maybe stainless steel with a nod to the Gateway Arch?) covering the cinderblock portion on the SW corner of the building.

Does anyone else think those gray panels in the bottom-right bottom-left corners of the windows look like absolute cr@p??

I am amazed at how good this building is starting to look. I was also very skeptical of this renovation, but i my mind when you can take on of the ugliest and most run down and make it look good, it amplifies the effect. This also gives kind of amodern twist to Wash Ave.

If the buildin proposed to be built caddy corner from here happens along with the new park pacific building, tucker will have a nice modern design feel to it.

Looks great. I like having buildings from multiple decades to keep downtown from looking like a museum.

It would be cool if some were in color. Very Euro.

^ The gray panels look like crap from straight on, but when you see them on an angle in the above pictures, they look much better. I really like the "wavie" facade. Looks sharp. I say glossy black for the cinder block portion.

Also some granite like paneling that is going up on the NW bottom corner near the Lucas alley. Looks cool.

Stainless steel covering over the cinder blocks might look cool, but I wonder if this isn't the best spot for a St. Louis version of Times Square. Wash-Ave is already becoming a neon-sign district. Given the more contemporary vibe of this corner building, maybe it could have multi-color LED lights that move visually as they change colors.

That would be cool, but I like the original idea about the wood paneling. I think it could add a Northwest vibe.

And I must admit, that I'm really starting to like the way this building is taking shape. I was one of the most vocal detractors, and I will eat my words.

I always figured that they were vents for the a/c units or something. I don't think they look that bad.

Hey, if Kansas City can do it, why not St. Louis on this building?

^Hey, I wasn't the only one.

And I've seen those lights in KC. They're horrible and annoying. I've no problem with trying to liven it up a little, but let's skip the KC imitation.
