Yeah, the furniture is all in place, everything looks like it is ready to go. Like they could open tomorrow. And it's been that way for sometime now.
Isn't it time to applaud St. Patrick Center for successfully integrating the Hero program into our neighborhood and the Wash Ave apts? We seem to put some much effort into trying to stop things from happening, time to show our support and approval of programs that are actually working!

Looks like the name changed on these. It used to be for homeless trying to transition back into he workforce. Now it's called The Downtowner and appears to have a slick website. After looking at the website they accept Section 8 vouchers.
Anyone else have info?

^ I don't know much but it is owned and managed by Dominium, so that should be a plus. Also, they seem to have gotten a nice tax appeal as its been reduced by more than half.
It is a pretty slick website.... not sure if it's all income controlled, but certainly if you're a young adult making under $30,000 and not an artist this might be a good place to look at.downtown2007 wrote: Now it's called The Downtowner and appears to have a slick website.

I think it's great. I just hope the Section 8 part has a cap such as 10-20% of units.

^ I suspect they have a manageable cap.... again its Dominium which I think is about the best to handle this sort of arrangement.
I think it may have 90 units, btw. With properties like this, the CityView at Plaza Square (undergoing extensive renovation) Locust Street Lofts (which also had low tenancy but has new ownership/management) and other lower profile properties we might be looking at a couple hundred additional units potentially being leased downtown in addition to all the higher profile projects.

I don't remember hearing about the transfer from it being apartments for homeless veterans sponsored by St. Patrick's to a Dominium managed developed. Apparently happened back in October 2012, and Dominium has put a little money into repositioning it: Here's the P-D Article.
Maybe they waited until some of the leases/arrangements with the veterans burned off to market the repositioning more? Or maybe this one just flew under the radar a bit. Glad to hear it. They've done/are doing great things for Downtown.

^ absolutely.... I love our Minneapolis overlords! Dominium and Sherman Associates rom the frigid frontier have been very good for Saint Louis.
Didn't this place used to have a diner on the first floor? I'm missing that right about now. I want to be able to get pancakes for breakfast on the weekends. Rooster's too expensive, and Chilli Mac's is closed.
Eat-Rite (24 hrs) and White Knight (7am) have pancakes, and there's also a 24/7 diner in Lumiere, but that involves going into Lumiere.
That's good to know about Eat-Rite. I didn't know it was 24 hours. It's kind of a hike from Wash Ave, though. Probably good, in that you'll burn off some of those calories, though. I will be checking that place out, especially when the weather is warmer and the walk isn't so bad.

^ You should connect with that Dan guy who received some attention with his pancake designs.... kickstart a small spot on Washington called Dancakes. Something a little more fru-fru would be the Pancakery with all kinds of made to order ingredients.

Has anyone tried the 314 Bar?
