I wonder how NFL fans in Indianapolis feel about this deal.
Lmao oof. No taxes just long enough for the team to start thinking about relocate again and suckering someone else into another deal.StlAlex wrote: ↑3:48 AM - Jun 06Bears stadium deal in Indiana:
-100% property tax break for 40 years on all Bears facilities used in whole or part to manage and operate the professional team. This applies to everything, no matter the location, meaning it applies to property away from the mIn stadium campus.
The UFL clearly shows St Louis is the obvious place for the next NFL expansion football team. If the next generation of NFL owners considered promoting the Battlehawks to an NFL level team, would St Clair county in Illinois offer to build a new NFL stadium using the same financial bond tools used by counties in Kansas and Indiana?
Plenty of open space where the Columbia/Waterloo airport was scheduled to be built in the late 1970s. And a way to pull metro growth East away from Wentzville.

Why would Illinois support a stadium in St. Clair County, if they wouldn't support the Bears, either in Chicago or Arlington Heights. More importantly, WHY would Illinois support a stadium if it's going to require billions in tax breaks/financial support to get it?
The NHL is looking to break through the 32 team barrier.
If the NHL does this, will the NFL follow?

I asked AI this: “So outside of Wyandotte county, are other Kansas residents paying for the stadium?”
The answer was this: “The short answer is no, other Kansas residents will not see a new "stadium tax" added to their receipts, and their state income taxes aren't being raised to pay for it.”
Kansas is giving up revenue generated by the stadium, but they would not have that revenue anyway with or without the stadium.

But the problem is that STAR bond district is not just the stadium. They're also surrendering tax revenue from a much much larger area.gary kreie wrote: ↑3:42 PM - Jun 24I asked AI this: “So outside of Wyandotte county, are other Kansas residents paying for the stadium?”

So you're saying the equivalent in Illinois could be St. Clair, Madison, and Clinton counties. I could imagine a pretty nice stadium in Shiloh just off I-64 near Mid-America airport and Scott AFB area.dweebe wrote: ↑4:05 PM - Jun 24But the problem is that STAR bond district is not just the stadium. The riverfront in East St. Louis would be fantastic, especially with the Arch as a backdrop!
^Agree!
Let's go, Illinois!! You're about to lose your only NFL team so it's time to bring our Bengals home to ESTL!!

Football stadiums are not financially smart for cities and their residents
That being said I wish we had the Rams because it would be worth it to the feel of downtown

After being dead for 40 something years the "Fire Bidwill" movement crawls out of the grave in another city.
St Louis is a football desert with respect to NFL and College 1A. Closest of either is 2 hour drive for college and overnight stay for NFL. NFL leaving lots of money on the table for MLS to pick up, and any sport that wants all sellouts for every .500 or better season. Talking to you NBA or WNBA.delmar2debaliviere2downtown wrote:Football stadiums are not financially smart for cities and their residents

man, we all hated Bidwell so much and the dude just wanted his own stadium. that's it. I've been beyond vocal in criticizing socialism for sports stadiums but in the mid 80s, the inability of STL's leaders to think regionally and just give Bidwell like 1/2 the socialism $ we gave the Rams is why STL has no NFL team.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, f#ck Kroenke and all that but if Vince Schoemel just let's Gene McNary have a county football stadium for 10 events a year, the STL region still has football team and all the positive vibes that comes with a football team.
I've said this on twitter a lot but I think a primary reason KC has superior vibes than STL right now is the Chiefs Mahomes run (and WC games). I can't and wont argue that sports truly provide *direct & immediate* economic benefits to a region but they do provide cool/fun vibes. And, vibes matter. STL not having any vibes related to the country's most popular sport....bad.
One of the sports bars that existed way back in the 1980s sold "Fire Bidwill" buttons and t-shirts. Might have been the old Schmiezings on Hampton. It's amazing they dug it up again in Arizona.soulardx wrote: ↑7:33 PM - Todayhooooleeee sh*t. that made me LOL and reminds me how old I am.dweebe wrote: ↑6:49 PM - TodayAfter being dead for 40 something years the "Fire Bidwill" movement crawls out of the grave in another city.
