I didn't see a general NFL thread, so share any thoughts, opinions, or news here.

The Titans and the Vikings have both suspended in-person activities, due to a COVID outbreak at the Titans camp:

“On Tuesday morning, the Titans COVID testing results returned three new player positives and five new personnel positives. The Titans will suspend in-person club activities starting today. Likewise, the Vikings, who played the Titans on Sunday, will also suspend in-person club activities.

“Both clubs are working closely with the NFL and the NFLPA, including our infectious disease experts, to evaluate close contacts, perform additional testing and monitor developments,” the NFL said in a statement. “All decisions will be made with health and safety as our primary consideration. We will continue to share updates as more information becomes available.”

Pretty impressive number. If only the NFL needed backyard talent.

TSN sports channel has an interesting take from one of their insiders on STL in the CFL:

^ That makes a ton of sense for both parties. It would be interesting for STL to be such a significant first outpost for Canada. Could even influence or encourage larger economic development.

That’s interesting. I wonder if you could play Canadian Football in the Dome? Their field is quite a bit larger and there a quite a few strange differences from American football.

The CFL’s expansion into the US, was a failure in the 90s. Baltimore’s team being the exception, but Baltimore also won the league championship and had recently lost their NFL team, which helps with support.

All four sides are moveable so I don't see why they couldn't. If you've been there for stuff like Monster Jam or motocross you've seen the non-standard setup. But they'd probably have to fold up the end sections all the way.

STL media could be giving more attention to the Chiefs slim potential of relocation to Kansas. I think the odds of St. Louis market returning to NFL remain slim but increase if the Chiefs relocate to Kansas. Here's why.
1. Rural Missouri and St. Louis based fans will not follow the team to Kansas. The Chiefs were successful at absorbing leftover fans as Missouri's team. State is the second largest shared identity that rural populations have, behind nationality. They don't prioritize regionalism and therefore will not sacrifice state identity. For many Missourians outside of KC, the Chiefs going to Kansas is no different than the Rams going to California.  The Chiefs will maintain their local fanbase but I believe they will lose much of what they gained since 2016.
2. State of Missouri will be completey humiliated after losing two teams in one decade. The right combination of state and local politicians could start to formulate an ownership group leveraging the already approved funding mechanism to bring a team to Missouri.

Unfortunately, I do think the odds of successfully attracting a team will increase if the ownership group steers clear of the City and County. A wealthy and conservative ownership group with a new St. Charles County stadium proposal would probably go much further with Missouri and NFL officials. Just a hunch.

I agree with this take for the most part. Chiefs going to KS would help a bid. I think St. Louis was in best position to regain a team from a Jacksonville relocation. I think Cincinnati would be the next most likely poachable team but they are getting their stadium stuff figured out now as well. Unlike the MLB who is definitely looking to expand 2 cities, I’m not sure that’s where NFL is at yet. I think if the NFL does expand, it would make most sense to do 4 but that’s a lot to prepare for and get owners on board. Does StL have a group that can make the cut at 4? Maybe. We have cheap land for a stadium and a large enough market and good distance from the nearest teams. StL could probably have a competitive bid if it’s 3 US Cities + Toronto.

North riverfront/bottle district is still the ideal spot for us and the one that would change the region and in my opinion the most ideal for the NFL. You can do there what you could do in any far suburb because there is plenty of land. In Illinois, on the riverfront probably second, and you could still have all the land you want to build a complex or whatever but it would be a hard sell. I think Chesterfield would be the second most likely looked at option over anything in St. Charles County. St. Charles riverfront would actually not be too bad of an alternative if they refuse the Mississippi riverfront but not sure the land is there. Far west St. Charles County would hardly make our region much better off

If the NFL expands, it's to Europe with 4 teams there. No reason for St. Louis to even consider getting a team: not until some city says "no" to a team. And so far they (Nashville, Cleveland, Buffalo) have freely given money for stadiums.

The recent wave of moves successfully spooked cities and states into submission. Yes it's extortion, and yes it's working. Probably won't be another opportunity for a relocation anytime soon.

I will say that the opportunity cost of building a stadium on the North Riverfront has decreased now that those beautiful warehouses have burned down :(

East Riverfront is still my ideal location, but obviously won't be helped by the state of Missouri.

The thing is it spooked cities when in actuality there are no serious threat to take teams. St. Louis, Oakland and San Diego are all dead as options.

The Broncos are talking about self financing a new retractable roof  stadium to the south of the current open air Mile High.

The Chicago Bears seem to be burning bridges on their way to the suburbs.

That just seems to be the NFL trend. Buffalo, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Cleveland, and now Chicago. Nashville is a unique situation where theirs is right across the river from downtown, but not really downtown.

Wonder if Cincinnati will end up staying in the city long term or move to the suburbs.

Was US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis the last truly "city" stadium built in the NFL? Seems like the days of downtown NFL stadiums are over.

Cincinnati similar to StL could leverage “suburban” land across the river in KY for space and a stadium, and esp with their walking bridge, it could still feel downtown. I really think Bengals could be poached if someone made the right push. There are a lot of more attractive markets than Cincy. Bengals for decades have been consistently at the bottom of value, revenue, attendance, etc

Baseball stadiums are perfect for city centers. Football not so much. As urban minded as I am, I understand that football culture is about tailgating which requires cars which requires parking lots. So you have all that parking lot taking up space in the city center for 8 home events a year + a pattering of mega concerts. It’s just not feasible or worth the land cost and use unless it’s right there for the taking (like we honestly have in north downtown StL)

Not quite the payout STL got, but still good for CLE. I think the Browns moving will be an overall net positive for the city.

The new stadium is adjacent to the Red Line and this will open up significant potential for redevelopment around the Waterfront Line and the old stadium. That's what this $100M should go towards.

$600 million in public money from Ohio and $400 million from the suburb for Oak Brook.

I forgot though: it's okay when other places do it, but St. Louis can't because we need to be held to a higher standard.

So if St Louis starts packing 40K into the dome again regularly for Battlehawks, how long before an Illinois or Missouri county outside of the city limits makes a similar proposal to the NFL to return the NFL to a new structure in the suburbs? Is 10 years too early. Or will it be 20 years when nearly all the owners from 10 years ago are dead.
