That was my thought. Between Kain Tayo, this, Scout, and the wine place (not to mention Blue Jay) this is a nice little cluster of restaurants. If only we could build some more residential right around there! The Malone seems to have been a hit

Kain Tayo is actually located around the corner at 333 N. Beaumont. Despite what's noted above, The Fattened Caf is neither moving nor expanding into the 2700 Locust space. They are, however, applying for a liquor license, but's for their storefront on S. Jefferson at Cherokee.

Thanks. Here is another one at the same address. I didn't realize they were listed by the parent company not the restaurant location

Michelin Restaurant Ratings Coming to Milwaukee

“Visit Milwaukee is sponsoring Milwaukee’s inclusion. It announced the deal in a press conference Wednesday morning at the Milwaukee Art Museum.”

“Representatives from Visit Detroit, Visit Minneapolis, Destination Cleveland, Visit Indy and VisitPITTSBURGH were also in attendance, alongside Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the Michelin Guide.”

While it is pretty silly that cities have to pay to be added to the Michelin Guide, St. Louis really should’ve found the money to be a part of this group. It’s not a great look for our food scene that most of our peer Midwest cities have Michelin now except for us.

It’s all pay to play and we probably need to at this point. Some of the only positive attention the city and region has gotten from the outside world in the past several years has been its food scene, so we should capitalize on it.

Agreed. Colorado paid $300K for a 3 year commitment. That is a drop in the bucket compared to the international exposure the Michelin Guide brings for a regions food scene.

Good find!  I enjoy reading about how Michelin stars come to be.  

Did St. Louis have an shot at the specific opp here, as it's for the "American Great Lakes edition" of the guide?   Then again, other than DET & CLE, none of those cities are on the Great Lakes.  So, wish STL was in the room for fact finding at least.

Good question. I’m not sure, but thought if Indy and Pittsburgh were included, we could’ve had a shot. But there’s a chance we were not on their geographic radar for this Great Lakes guide. If so, I would love to see an effort at a “Heartland” guide of sorts including STL, KC, Omaha, OKC, etc

Still holding out hope for a CAVA. If there is one place they would put one in the city it's south Euclid.

Midtown by SLU or SSM/Cardinal Glennon would probably work too

I see they opened one waaaaay out in Cottleville. 

I was out in the sticks a few weeks ago and it looked very busy on a Friday afternoon.

Speaking of the Central West End, there's a new sign up in the storefront at Maryland & Taylor for a "Dua Cafe" coming soon. I've grown to be somewhat cynical about these things because of the number of restaurants I've seen coming soon which open a year later (or sometimes never like El Sitio on Mcpherson) but hoping for the best. 

I can't really explain but my hunch is that its by the same guy who ran Ciao Cafe Pizzeria there a couple years back, which would be great in that the vibe of that place was cool & European but bad in that it didn't stay open for more than year and closed rather abruptly.

that pizza place was rather odd. always seemed like it was in the midst of a soft opening. 

Bar Italia (and perhaps this isn't a secret at all) has been on the market for a while. All yours for $350K. Place has been running on fumes for a while and Edera is now the vastly superior Italian spot on that 1/2 block.

CAVA is like the chipotle of Mediterranean food. They pick up a pita or a bowl and you tell them what stuff you want in it among the options in front of you.
