With my capital budget I purchased a new office building for my business but when I explained to my employees that meant the operations budget was lower and their salaries needed to be cut in half they all quit. Please send help, I'm about to go bankrupt!

I suspect they are just trying to fundraise for the building. They got one large gift, but they will need a lot more. There is no general university money available based on everything they are saying about their budget situation, and if there is, they have some explaining to do to their current and former employees that are suffering with layoffs and no raises.
Capital improvement budgets are a thing that exists and aren't used on employee pay. So they wouldn't have any explaining to do.
MattnSTL is correct.  The project has been in the works for a couple of years.  They are fundraising approximately 100M for it.  As of today, they are considerably short of that goal and subsequently won't be breaking ground anytime soon.

Don't remember saying he was wrong about that, I didn't even engage that part of his post.

Is the old SLU Hospital/Desloge Tower still being used as a hospital? Haven't driven by at night in a while and noticed it was lit up like it's still the main hospital.

From what I understand about it, it's administrative offices or something. Nothing patient supporting.

The last I heard it was going to be turned into administrative offices but capacity at the new hospital has been over 100% and they have been using for overflow. Not sure if the long term plans are still for administrative or not.

The average baby boomer is 70 now. Hospitals are going to operate beyond capacity for the next 15 years. StL is in a really good position

This really has a presence driving east on 40. I hope whatever material is used that isn't glass doesn't look too cheap.

I wish the glass curtain wall extended further down. The solid panels on the mockup across the street seem a little cheap looking.

I’ve heard it may be converted into a rehab facility with the cancer center for children being retained.
