I don’t see 20 years as exactly holding my breath. I wonder how many St Louisans have Chiefs season tickets?quincunx wrote:I wouldn't hold your breath.
The biggest thing working against STL is its slow growth. If it started to grow again then the NFL won’t say no to money.

Eleven of the NFL metros have lower populations than St Louis, and only a couple will pass us in the next 10 years. So, not buying it. I think it is just owners who love their fans, unlike Kroenke, no matter their low population such as Pittsburgh or Buffalo. We’ve never had that in St Louis football.

If DUMoff becomes commissioner, the 1% chance we had of a getting team in STL will be forever lost, not that the odds were that great anyway. However, if the NFL (and we know they are greedy as can be) ever expands to 40 teams, STL would have to be on that list. I think anyone with a functioning brain would acknowledge that. We'd need a billionaire to step up like Dave Steward, but since he has not expressed any desire to own an NFL team, I doubt that would happen.

We won’t have an NFL team in our lifetime. So this would make no difference. Would you even want to be part of a league that would even consider hiring scum of the earth like Demoff?
Chicago Bears are “considering” northwest Indiana. This would destroy the team. Negotiation tactic.
Yeah, for sure. It's funny how hard he tries to butter up the fans. "Please don't leave me...even though I broke up with you!"addxb2 wrote: ↑Dec 18, 2025Chicago Bears are “considering” northwest Indiana. This would destroy the team. Negotiation tactic.
I will never understand why communities continue to throw money to owners who don't need it when there are study after study after study that show they will not recoup their money.
The Chiefs are reported to be close on a stadium deal with Kansas(supposedly going to be announced next week). With The Missouri stadium legistation that was passed eailer in the year, i think this would help st.louis’s odds of getting a team in the future.
That future is never coming. If it is, a St. Louis NFL team is 15 or 20 years away.marc1015 wrote: ↑Dec 19, 2025The Chiefs are reported to be close on a stadium deal with Kansas(supposedly going to be announced next week). Right now teams are getting that sweet sweet public money so there's no candidates for relocation. And if the NFL expands, it's 4 teams in Europe.

I still do not believe the NFL is viable in Europe as part of a North American league, but the NFL is greedy enough to do it so who knows. I think if they do, it will be a cluster.

Yep. We need most of the current owners to pass on. Which, from the looks of them, could be any minute.dweebe wrote:That future is never coming. Whenever move or expansion happens, St. Louis will have a real shot if we and an ownership group is organized.
Your competition is basically Toronto, London, Mexico City, San Antonio/Austin, OKC and San Diego. After the recent stadium deals, Cincinnati is probably the only franchise out there right now that would be possible at all to poach.
At the end of the day, I do not think the next NFL expansion will be international and St. Louis and San Diego would be the top domestic markets. If those two cities each has a group together, that will be the next expansion phase. Then I think the next expansion to 36 would be two international. So STL needs to be ready.

The more I read, the more I believe the St. Louis region and Missouri should have a plan.
To present to potential future NFL commissioner Kevin Demoff? You sure it's a good idea to get back into business with the entity that acted in such bad business faith?addxb2 wrote: ↑Dec 23, 2025The more I read, the more I believe the St. Louis region and Missouri should have a plan.
I really enjoy the NFL football on the field, and selfishly I'd love to have a team to root for again. But it seems the very definition of insanity to seek out another relationship with the same group of people who burned STL before.

Let's hope it's not KD for a multitude of reasons, many of which have nothing to do with our slim odds of getting another NFL team. I just think the guy is slimy, but then again, that is what fits NFL owners so maybe he fits the bill. That being said, there are several other more viable candidates, so we will see.rbb wrote: ↑Dec 23, 2025To present to potential future NFL commissioner Kevin Demoff? I see your point but I think you have to be careful of thinking emotionally. These are not emotional people. They didn’t care about the fans then, they certainly don’t care about bad blood now.rbb wrote:To present to potential future NFL commissioner Kevin Demoff? If a financially positive plan is delivered at the right time, the capitalist will consider it.
I think that plan will have to include a 100 year lease and further commitments to rebuild trust with fans but it’s all possible. I also think we’re overlooking the UFL. If the UFL finds a pathway to success, it’ll help STL to be its best performing team.
Until it becomes financially advantageous for him to break the deal, as they have proven they're willing to do.addxb2 wrote: ↑Dec 23, 2025I see your point but I think you have to be careful of thinking emotionally. My reluctance to see STL enter into a new agreement with the NFL isn't thinking due to me thinking emotionally - it's exactly the opposite. I'm putting aside my desire to have a team to call my own due to the NFL acting duplicitously under the prior agreement, with most of the same duplicitous players still in place.

Fair! Whether the NFL is worth the risk of being played and public cost is valid.
Any plan needs to have the entire region bought in, not just the city and county. Consider how Lucas Oil in Indianapolis is funded in part by a food and beverage tax in the "ring" counties.addxb2 wrote:The more I read, the more I believe the St. Louis region and Missouri should have a plan.
I’m done being in an abusive relationship with the NFL.rbb wrote: ↑Dec 23, 2025To present to potential future NFL commissioner Kevin Demoff?
