Street racing is nothing new. Hampton Ave between Loughborough and Eichelberger (near me) has been a popular drag race destination for literally as long as I can remember going back 10+ years. The routine is you hear the screeching and engine, then maybe 10 minutes later you hear the police sirens, and then it's typically quiet the rest of the night.
So I'm happy that I won't hear it anymore since the magical fix is coming. Remember, you're the one who set these expectations.
Let's just hope that the positive murder and violent crime trends are as given as you seem to think they are though.

The Spencer campaign says that Jones went around the room and introduced herself to people that were there for Spencer.
There is no way around it; it's a strange strategy for Jones, and one that I don't believe will pan out.
I've been supportive of her, but her actions lead me to believe that she knows she's going to get rolled here in a few weeks.

These aren't dumb people. But they are acting foolishly and spending precious campaign time foolishly.

I live in fear the crime numbers will go up because the state decided to seize the police department and will likely basically hand control to the unions. At this point it probably doesn't even matter who wins. The amended bill removed the union aspect of the bill. Police operations are unlikely to be changed very much so long as they keep the current leadership, such as Tracy, in place. So in theory, crime shouldn't go up. However, I'd be more worried about Spencer ending violence prevention programs that Jones has implemented over the years. Hopefully she doesn't though.
Regardless, the city has been lifted of blame for crime so long as the state runs the PD.
