In other news I saw on Fox 2 that city’s population is now down to 279,000. My thought is how many people actually fill out the census? At this point I’m not sure any mayor of the city can reverse a trend that’s been ongoing for so long.

That's the "merits" right there.
I think deciding between the two requires far more nuance than that.

I see the Jones fans are doubling down on the Bob Clark=Musk strategy that got them 33% in the primary. Carry on.
I would implore you to find any time I have ever said Clark = Musk.

Because being publicly backed by a billionaire and special interests shows you're in touch.

The thing is, I think Clark is winning the battle of public perception. I don’t think it’s an out of touch strategy. Right or wrong.

Who cares what you say or don't say, you aren't on the ballot.  But your choice candidate actually did say exactly that, and what a dumb idea that was.

Spencer seems to be feisty & gritty. I used to be anti Spencer but I admit she’s grown on me & I like her character & passion she also seems to get things done & she seems to really want to change the identity of StL for the better. Does she have what it takes to be a leader? While I like Jones I think some of her misfortunes have caught up with her will she have enough to combat those & be re-elected?
I think it all boils down to who’s more deserving to lead StL for the next 4 years.

In the most progressive precincts in Missouri they don't feel Jones is in touch with them anymore. It doesn't mean they love billionaires.

So again I ask who thinks this comparison is still a good idea.

Did the OP say "Jones" or the "Jones fans"?

This discussion here right now is largely dead horse beating exercise  and alot of you are missing the plot.  April 8th is a formality. The discussions that people are actually having is beyond that and one amongst biz leaders is Clark’s bizarre interview.   Generally it would be dismissed since he hadn’t been actual active here unless he wants something. But the equation has changed due to his outsized investment in Spencer and the type of influence that gets. Nobody in the biz community has a clue what he’s talking about when he says “expanding the footprint beyond the 2030 plan”.  GSLs 2030 plan is a region wide jobs plan with a special focus on the core and today it had a major win when Boeing got selected to build the next fighter jet, the work done by GSL along with Boeing on the new facilities set the table for that.  This talk of putting another group can do damage to a unified regional vision and building from the core out.   There is a lot of naivety about Clark’s intention on here. This guy isn’t new to this region, he has a long track record of not giving a sh*t unless it benefited him. When he said “one idea kicked around is top 25 companies taking a stand in one building” (or something along those lines) nobody has an idea what he’s talking about.  You can believe whatever you want but at end of the day Clark is in this for just one thing: lambert rebuild. He’s realized that if jones was to win he would never get it.  He went all in on Spencer not because of some sort of belief that she is the leader needed to turn this city and region around, it’s that she won’t be a roadblock likes Jones would be.  As I said above, Spencer would be better off to start putting some distance between herself and Clark.

General consensus amongst biz and developers is that they just want this over with.  Having to pick sides considering the pettiness of all involved is putting alot of people in uncomfortable situations

At the end of the day April 8th there’ll either be jones as the mayor or Spencer as the mayor. Bob Clark will have very little influence in who becomes mayor. While he may want Spencer as mayor it’s ultimately up to the citizens of the city who they want as the mayor.

Only 18 homicides through 3/22. Are we going to get a major story about this before the election? Probably not given the PD and the BJ hate Jones.

It’s wild that Jones has made enormous progress on the City’s biggest problem and she’s still going to get smoked.

American voters have completely ditched materialism. It’s all about vibes.

^well then maybe that's something Jones campaign should be focusing on instead of doubling down on Clark as Musk.

It's hilarious how Jones bears NO agency in  her bid for reelection.

That so few want four more years is written off as "hate" from the Post Dispatch and Business Journal. Laughable considering Jones is losing ground among demographics that aren't exactly fans of the Business Journal.

This was Jones race to lose and she is doing it.

PostMar 22, 2025#1315

This FB post from yesterday makes it clear the comparison of Clark to Musk that fell on completely deaf ears isn't going away until Jones tells her dad to enjoy his retirement and kindly butt out.

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1HWyCEtg6T/

And we know that ain't happening.

This is noise pollution I'm hearing in Soulard right now that this mayor doesn't seem to have a problem with. Looking forward to a mayor that does.

Baltimore Jack actively setting Spencer up for failure by making it seem like she will magically be able to solve every problem the city faces.

I dint expect these problems to be magically solved.

But acknowledging it's a problem is a good place to start.

Let's not start lowering expectations that you have worked to raise before the election even happens!

Thanks to you, I have extremely high expectations for Spencer.

Scoff all you want but the drag racing and street takeovers on 7th and adjoining streets in Soulard LaSalle and Kosciusko are a serious nuisance.

Don't worry I believe you believe that. It's definitely more serious than like murder or violent crime, both of which are way down. So I totally see why you'd think it's something to oust the incumbent over.

We are now equating murder and violent crimes to society crimes like noise ordinace violations!!

Murder? Down.
Violent crime? Down.
Property crime? Down.

Those are so good that they can't even be the narrative anymore, so we have moved onto "basic city services" and apparently loud noises.

Anything to put your opinion above the facts 👍

Again keep writing stuff like block takeovers and street drag racing . off as "loud noises".

See how that works out for you.
