Probably better for them to acquire the land before releasing any kind of plans too. Otherwise price goes up
Agree as well, The one thing I would change is maybe they get up with Drury family, knockdown the Peachtree & single level parking garage, and go in on a more signature hotel tower & buildout. Which I could see a happening.STLEnginerd wrote: ↑Oct 02, 2024welli would hope its not a ballpark village concept. I would hope its more of a neighborhood. You know midrise multifamily with street facing retail. You know boring but highly functional. We do not need another BPV and even if we did i would point to union station as the natural fit.dbInSouthCity wrote: ↑Oct 02, 2024I think there is a Citypark ballpark village type of development in it’s infancy forming
2315 and 2345 (this is the building west of 2315 and up on jefferson) sold last week and I think it could be the same buyer or under same umbrella . The properties marked X are for sale too
In other words, let BPV & Union Station play its part and build a more natural Wrigley field type neighborhood.
Also, I like the idea of AHM having the signature wood frame tower anchoring the area which would give you a sort mini wall along the west side of Jefferson would give the area a good feel in my opinion.

If the hotel that was to be at the NW corner of Market at Jefferson which is now a big hole; Drury may be considering,
If they pulled out of that project Drury may not be eager to spend the money on a new hotel and just sit tight

CityPark to renamed as Energizer Park.
I’m pleasantly surprised, I would love to see Energizer take on a larger role as corporate citizen locally.

What are the odds of them moving their corporate HQ to STL from the burbs? Now that would be a "good corporate citizen".Debaliviere91 wrote: ↑Oct 31, 2024CityPark to renamed as Energizer Park.

0% chance. But moving to Clayton from West County is progress I suppose.MarkGroth2020 wrote:What are the odds of them moving their corporate HQ to STL from the burbs? Now that would be a "good corporate citizen".Debaliviere91 wrote: ↑Oct 31, 2024CityPark to renamed as Energizer Park.

Just moved to Clayton, so no chance they are a catalyst for Downtown.

How could you possibly see this as a blow to STL when they are moving closer to the city from the previous location in West County? They are currently on 141 and I-64, that's 10 miles from the city border and now they are next to it. We can't see everything as a blow, this is actually good news.MarkGroth2020 wrote: ↑Oct 31, 2024Too bad, another Clayton blow to STL. Happens often. A city of ~17K smoking us on corporate HQs. Imagine is we were all one big tax base/city, we wouldn't worry about this stuff.
Didn't Energizer a few years ago quietly (but not too quietly) look at moving their HQ out of St. Louis/Missouri entirely?Rick Prieto wrote: ↑Oct 31, 2024How could you possibly see this as a blow to STL when they are moving closer to the city from the previous location in West County? If a major company is close enough to a MetroLink station for its employees to utilize it, I think that's a win for St. Louis.
I believe the company is now in the 8200 block of Forsyth Blvd.

I am a resident of STL, not Clayton. I want property taxes, earnings tax, people and vibrancy in STL, not Clayton, Belleville, Ferguson, Granite City, Ballwin or any of the other myriad of other cities in the region. I want STL to be dense and active. Bringing business to the city is what we need. Took me years to figure out the region, but now I get it. It's us vs. them until we merge into one big city like KC, Indy, etc. My 2 cents.Rick Prieto wrote: ↑Oct 31, 2024How could you possibly see this as a blow to STL when they are moving closer to the city from the previous location in West County? Moving the offices closer to the city into Clayton makes it more likely workers may live in the city. A lot easier commute now. Also could use Metrolink now.MarkGroth2020 wrote: ↑Oct 31, 2024I am a resident of STL, not Clayton. Any business that moves closer to downtown I take as a win. Maybe not as big a win as some want but better than it was.

From the PD article: ""The atmosphere here is unmatched," Energizer Holdings President and CEO Mark LaVigne said during the media event at Energizer Park. "We want to shine a bigger spotlight on St. Louis."
And the CITY CEO: "Our goal from the start has been to drive this region's transformation," Kindle said.
What better way to build atmosphere than by moving an HQ to STL's Downtown West neighborhood? This is just a name, glad Energizer is still in the suburbs/region. But man, missed opportunity to invest in STL...I remain hopeful that the soccer team will bring more residents and businesses/jobs not just sports bars.

well, if you gotta have a corporate name attached to a stadium, it doesn't get much better than Energizer Park.
it could be way worse, e.g. Guaranteed Rate Field (Chicago White Sox), Climate Pledge Arena (Seattle Kraken), Acrisure Stadium (né Heinz Field—Pittsburgh Steelers).
we've been pretty lucky with stadium names so far.

The Ty-D-Bowl would have been my choice for a st. louis based sponsor. Maybe they can sponsor a college football bowl game.
Re Energizer's location, it would be pretty interesting to see data on how many city residents work in Clayton. Anyway, an Energizer move to downtown would have been best, I agree with those saying that the move to Clayton surely benefits St. Louis City compared to where it was. Many city neighborhoods are closer to DT Clayton than DT Clayton is to I-270... it's just a short commute of a few miles and I'm sure more workers will choose to live in the city than when it was far out in the I-64 traffic sewer.

Energizer Park and Enterprise Center would look a lot better with accompanying towers of their corporate namesakes…but of course, our corporations would do anything besides just locate downtown.

It would be dope if they erected a giant Energizer Bunny statue outside the stadium.

Hahahahaha!
No. It would be be gimmicky and absurd. Unless they brought back the Kung Fu bunny from Kiel Plaza, then I approve

Gotta have the Energizer Bunny banging the drum in the supporters section.
