^All this airline arena business is making me miss the TWA Dome. Anyway, holy crud is that thing sitting in a scar.
Your're getting Dave Stewart and Dave Steward mixed up.dbInSouthCity wrote: ↑Jul 27, 2024Dave Steward sold blues stake because he’s been focusing on bringing a mlb team to Nashville
The guy behind the Nashville bid is former player Dave Stewart

Seems like Dave Stewart has been attached to the Nashville project ever since his time as GM of the D'Backs went south.
If Nashville gets the club, I believe their intended name will be the Nashville Stars.

I heard there is a team in western Missouri looking for a more supportive region. Maybe they can give them a call?
Boy I sure hope that happens!!addxb2 wrote: ↑Jul 27, 2024I heard there is a team in western Missouri looking for a more supportive region. Maybe they can give them a call?

Miami, I know the NHL team left but Phoenix was one as well.addxb2 wrote: ↑Feb 20, 2024If the NBA would need another arena… likely next door to Enterprise Center, then they can go elsewhere. I can’t think of a dumber waster of time, space, or money.
Lots of arenas share NHL and NBA. The newest proposal in DC still has Caps sharing with Wizards. Seattle won’t build a new arena. United Center in Chicago, Pepsi Center in Denver, Little Cesars Arena in Detroit.
In fact, where is there an example of a metropolitan area having both an NHL and NBA in separate arenas?
Why would it be a “massive” hit?DogtownBnR wrote: ↑Apr 26, 2024I would love to see an NBA team. However, the team MUST be called 'The Spirits of St. Louis' with the old logo. That would he a massive hit with fans. I am not sure how that process would work but how cool would that be!
The Sonics left for OKC…Debaliviere91 wrote: ↑Apr 26, 2024Portland isn’t a cow town. Its metro has 2.5M people in it and grew at 12% at the last census. Sure Seattle needs a team, but that didn’t stop the sonics from leaving for a cow town with 40% of the population of Seattle.

We are more likely to get a WNBA team than an NBA team in the next decade.

St Louis is not getting a WNBA or NBA team in the next decade.

First the NBA is going to expand to Seattle and Las Vegas. Then after the Pelicans are candidates for going somewhere else.Debaliviere91 wrote: ↑Sep 10, 2024St Louis is not getting a WNBA or NBA team in the next decade.

The problem is they'd require a new building.
The only people that would remember the Spirits are 60+ years old. Plus the Spirits only last 3 seasons and played in a half full arena.stldjw wrote: ↑Sep 10, 2024Why would it be a “massive” hit?DogtownBnR wrote: ↑Apr 26, 2024I would love to see an NBA team. It would be alot cheaper to relocate a team like the Pelicans than pay the NBA expansion fee. Expansion fee likely to exceed 5B.dweebe wrote: ↑Sep 10, 2024First the NBA is going to expand to Seattle and Las Vegas. I think St. Louis has a good chance eventually get a NBA team from either New Orleans or Memphis. Especially, if the region starts to get moderate growth again. I actually think we could get right at 3 million in the metro by 2030 if the immigration trends continue.STLAPTS wrote: ↑Sep 16, 2024It would be alot cheaper to relocate a team like the Pelicans than pay the NBA expansion fee. We're going to have to wait in line behind Vegas and Seattle. Apparently there was a governors meeting last week and it wasn't a topic: but will be discussed in upcoming sessions.goat314 wrote: ↑Sep 17, 2024I think St. Louis has a good chance eventually get a NBA team from either New Orleans or Memphis. NBA star and St. Louis native Jayson Tatum is backing the idea of a WNBA franchise in the city, according to a report from Sportico.
The report said the prospective ownership group is being co-led by billionaires Richard Chaifetz and David Hoffman, with Tatum, of the Boston Celtics, informally agreeing to invest in the team should it come to fruition.
A potential venue for the team is Chaifetz Arena, where Saint Louis University basketball teams play and named after Chaifetz donated $12 million to the school in 2007, the report said.
“St. Louis is a top-tier sports market, and we believe that bringing a WNBA franchise to the region will be a defining moment in the city’s ongoing revitalization,” Don Soffer, the spokesperson for the effort to bring Team 16 to St. Louis, told Sportico.
Efforts to reach the group and the WNBA for comment weren't immediately successful.
Sportico notes that other cities interested in expansion teams include Denver, Miami, Milwaukee and Philadelphia, with Kansas City also expressing interest.
The women's league currently has 12 teams, scheduled to increase to 15 by 2026. NBA owners hold about half of the WNBA’s equity, Sportico has reported.
A new professional franchise would provide a civic boost to St. Louis, which added a Major League Soccer franchise in 2023.
The Business Journal reported recently that media mentions of St. Louis have fallen off after the NFL's Rams exited for Los Angeles in 2016.
Hoffmann is chairman of the Hoffmann Family of Cos. Chaifetz is founder and chairman of Chaifetz Group.

I am loving this ^ I almost mentioned it when the KC bid came up that we should be also involved. Great to hear! WNBA and NWSL bring em here.

This would be really exciting if Tatum and the billionaires can pull it off. Hope they can.
Just another thing to make Midtown St. Louis that much more lively, should they come here and actually end up in Chaifetz Arena.

This is very exciting! Crossing my fingers it materializes and is successful.
