That's because the only before photos are taken by architects and contractors on site visits. ^Oh, I get it. But you can't tell me there aren't professional photos of the Turkish pavilion. It's long been a popular subject. I've probably shot the thing a half dozen times myself. (Not that my own photos would be great. The last ones were at night on a snow day, I think.) Some of the buildings probably haven't been the subject of good photos, but I bet the buildings in Tower Grove have all been in calendars before. With very well made pro-grade photographs.

^I suspect the problem is more that it would take (a little) effort to dig up better pictures and get the rights . . . and the blown out pictures work fine for the purpose, which is making the project look good.

Walked through Festival of Nations this morning right as it was opening, so cool! If you haven't been, it consists of around 100 stands with food from around the world, the smells were amazing, along with lots of drink options. There are multiple stages with live performances scattered throughout.
The crowd really grew from 10a until 11:30a when we left and we were hearing so many different languages at that point, it's a very unique experience.

Is Tower Grove Park still planning a renovation of the splash pad area near the Farmer's Market?
Not quite clear where. I like that they're putting in courts but it is a shame they'll be getting rid of trees and green space. There is a large paved area right by the Roman pavilion that could have been used instead. Many roads, for instance making the closures that were in place during covid permanent.
The street closures were so nice. My kids might have done 60-80 miles in Tower Grove Park biking around.

^Southeast has been closed more or less forever to no major harm. I was in favor of keeping Holly Hills Drive closed permanently in Carondelet Park, but boy oh boy did that cause a stink.
I have been a strong proponent of permanently closing TG Avenue between Arsenal and Magnolia (the stretch that goes through the park). Except for events such as Food Truck Friday, I had never seen the park so busy on weekdays as when they occasionally closed it for traffic during Covid.

so i am pretty skeptical of most of these. I don't think pandemic experiences can be the model for permanent change. People were in the park because it was safe and there weren't many other places to go and people were getting stir crazy.
As far as Osborn and NE in TG i could see going to one way or adding speed bumps with gaps for bicycles as effective middle ground.
As far as Tower Grove Ave through the park i could see doing what you recommend in reverse. Closed for specific events. It provides the only direct access to most of the park amenities from the North or South.

For TGP the roads are just way too wide IMO. I dont want it closed to traffic but you could very easily turn that wide road into 1 driving lane, 1 parking lane and a wide, separated bike/run/walk lane.
Why should Tower Grove Avenue be open through the park at all when it isn't even a major North-South thoroughfare? It ends at the Park, on Arsenal. You have Grand and Kingshighway right there. It's really wide, though. Grand and Kingshighway aren't that close, and there are a lot of stop signs on Arsenal, too.
