The work on the new stream is also well underway.

Can't wait to see the finished project.

I also snapped some photos of the stream in process too - pretty interesting - one of the photos you can see the lime-stoned wall and roof with the stream below the dirt.

Rough right now but the finished product should be great.

I hope they salvage the limestone and put it to good use. Lovely masonry.

Limestone is being put in piles seems like they are saving it. Also, large pile of smooth river rock was just dropped in last week - should be interesting to see that get lain.

Do we have renderings for the completed project?

As I remember how it was detailed, there should be a lot of native plants and nature playscapes for children.

Since the Basketball courts were mentioned in the other thread, I thought I would post the master plan in here.

Anyone know how close the wedding venue upgrades (I would have assumed those would have been announced already), and some of the other updates for that matter?

I walked by last night, the stream looks fairly close - maybe a month or two away from opening.  Looks like there will be a small "natural plaground" similar to Forest Park's, though much smaller, on the north side of the stream opening.

Also looked like they were replacing the roof for the west gatehouse.

^I've always thought that west gatehouse looked like a particularly lovely little cottage. Not sure if anyone is living in it at the moment, but . . . glad to see it getting some attention. Also: 440K? Wow! That's a lot of attention for such a small building.

My understanding is that there was someone living there who either passed away or moved away recently.

^I understand Catalpas have a habit to go that way, sadly. And that one looks to be ruinously old. (For a catalpa, anyway.) Maybe they can save a cutting or something.

Or retain/stabilize that trunk and make something cool for kids to visit.

Unrelated to the elf tree, but the stream project is really starting to come together. It's getting easier and easier to see how the finished project is going to look.

It's not as big or elaborate as the playscape in Forest Park, but this should be a great asset for the park and surrounding neighborhoods.

^I love that they use blown out, low saturation, overexposed photos for all the "befores" and carefully composed and properly exposed HDR photos for the "after." Nothing like some photographic tricks to sell your project.

Mind you, I'm glad to see this done. Tower Grove has been my favorite park since I was a little kid. I'm happy to see them doing this. I just think it's funny.
