^I doubt it... unless theres more damage to the building than I understand. The building is on the National Historic Register already, so it'd take a lot to demo it. I could be wrong though?

Either they have a crap insurance policy or they are taking this opportunity to scale down.  Staffing that many restaurants is tough, even if housed in the same building.

A shame, they were one of if the first rooftop dining places in STL and I really enjoyed 21st street brewer's bar patio and basement vibe.
Maybe they just want to cash out but that would be shortsighted. Seems like that area is about to get a pretty hot with new residential, target, and topgolf right down the street so it doesn't make sense.

They had a pretty good 16 year run, still have 4 other operations.  My guess is they looked at the effort, likely not dollars, on their part to get things going again and didn't have the will to see it through.

That said, if they aren't willing to put the insurance money and effort in to this building may be awhile before we see it reused.

It looks like at the very least they re-waterproofed the building and already removed water damaged drywall so it likely won't be in danger of deterioration/demolition.

As others have said, it's a shame to see it go. I'd only just discovered the basement bar six months or a year before the fire, and I really did like it. I don't blame them for not wanting to restart such a massive project from scratch, but I hope someone else can do something creative with it. It's a great space with good bones.

Nearly 50,000 people, then, visited the area in and around CityPark, said Emerald Capital Strategic Partners, a St. Louis consulting firm that's part of Green Street and uses geofenced traffic data to understand visitor numbers.

Schlafly's Tap Room counted 5,200 visitors March 4, Emerald said, up 426% over the same Saturday in 2022.

“For three years, we’ve been anxiously waiting as they built CityPark next door to the Schlafly Tap Room," said Kelly Ennis, Schlafly's director of marketing. "As you can tell from our visiting numbers, Saturday’s home opener was far from a disappointment. We had an incredible crowd.”

The festivities around the game started the prior evening, when a block party brought music giveaways, food and drinks to Lou Fusz Plaza, directly east of CityPark.

On Saturday, a DJ kicked off the celebration, and thousands flooded the area outside of the stadium and surrounding restaurants.

super interesting.  love geolocation data.

However, am I reading this right - in 2022, 1190 people went to Sybergs on March 5, 2022?  That's the number people who went inside and dined or got carry out?   Nearly 1200 people?  (same questions with Schlafly and MOB #'s)

Not sure this is the exact thread for this but a group of business owners are trying to get the city to rethink its application process.  They certainly have a point, I know of several restaurants that won't consider the city (or tried and couldn't get approved) simply due to the fact that its very time consuming to get a liquor license.  The biggest hindrance seems to be getting 50%+ approval from neighbors.  No other city has this requirement (in a quick search and read of other cities' laws), with the exception of Chicago but only for 4 AM bars.  While I do think neighbors should have a say, I don't think they should have final approval.  Hopefully the city revamps this.

Interesting, I hope they succeed in making the liquor license process easier. Their letter is kinda vague though.

While walking today went by Ciao, the long stalled pizzeria and gelateria at Taylor and Maryland.  setting up patio, menu in the window.  Owner says opening Tuesday, 4/18.  Great addition to the neighborhood.

Work has begun on the Mission Taco building @ McPherson&Euclid.  Dumpster out front, bunch of windows open.  Workers banging around.  Glad to see this progressing.

Another note from same walk:

Dressel's had significant worker activity also.  Hopefully this corner is buzzing again soon.

^^ That's great to hear.  Unfortunately, it sounds like the same treatment will be needed for the Three Kings building in The Loop (unless I'm mistaken).  A lot of fires lately it seems.

Caribou Coffee is said to be opening up several locations in the St. Louis area.

There is speculation that they will be opening up one of those locations at 4926 Christy Blvd in south St. Louis.
