Would be nice to see something finally fill the corner at Hanley/Wydown…
^ Well, yes actually. But in this case I was referring to the empty corner shop on the NE corner, formerly home to Starbucks.
A lot happening!

In related news, the burned space of Mission Taco/Salt Smoke/etc is currently seeing substantial interior demo and work. They're taking everything to the studs. so, complete redo of sorts. unsure what that means for any of those spots re-opening but good to see progress.
Glad to see the old Johnny's/Soulard Harpo's occupied again.

Then this new place slipped in under the radar. Across the street from the Great Grizzly Bear it's been too many odd bars to name.

Looks like they dropped some pretty good money on the space and the new back enclosed patio

I probably missed some because covid years are blurry but my best guess at whats opened and closed in downtown +west since covid
Great news in CWE. As for Hi-Hat, I've been a few times and it's a welcome addition. Planning on going to Calypso sometime in the next few days. There's also Mas Tequila moving into the old Joannie's soon, though that's a relocation from the Landing. Plus Wood Shack moving into the old Twisted Ranch for more space. Hopefully their old space, plus the Llywelyn's spot, don't sit vacant too long. I did see a...summons (?) on Llywelyn's, so not sure of the whole story there.

Taziki's, a fast-growing Mediterranean-inspired restaurant chain, to open multiple locations in St. Louis

The chain plans to open its first location in the St. Louis region in Creve Coeur towards the end of the year, he said.
Known for its Greek and Mediterranean cuisine, which includes gyros, sandwiches and salads, the restaurant will be corporate owned, and operated by Scott Bonner, an equity partner based in the St. Louis region. Bonner joined the company in May, according to his LinkedIn, and is a proven restaurant operator with decades of experience, Garmezy said.
Taziki’s hopes to establish a hub of corporate-owned restaurants in St. Louis, similar to what the company did in Birmingham, Alabama, where it has 11 locations, and Nashville, Tennessee, where it has 13 locations, Garmezy said.
“We did a bunch of market research on cities in the Midwest, and St. Louis came back as basically winning every category,” he said. “It’s a really strong market for our customer demographics.”
The company hopes to open “multiple locations" in St. Louis, all of which will be corporate owned and operated by Bonner, at a rate of one store per year “over the next several years,” Garmezy said. And — after establishing a corporate base in St. Louis — the company hopes to break into nearby markets, like Kansas City and Columbus, Ohio, through its franchising model, he added.

As I was walking down Pershing today, I noticed new signage up at the old 2Schae Cafe at Pershing and Union. It looks like a new coffee shop called Crema will be opening in the near future.
