Paid an extra $6 buying plane tickets this weekend so that I could connect through KC instead of Austin, can't wait to see it in person!

Also I have never and will likely never live in KC but I am happy to discuss the city (or any city) with the largely wonderful population of this forum.

I will always root for KC, a successful and growing KC benefits STL in a number of ways.

Explain how a thriving KC benefits STL. This will be interesting.

Still trying to figure out why we have this thread. Screw KC. Every Kansas Citian I know, and I have close family there, delights in the KC emergence and the continued downfall of STL. They revel in our inability to thrive and their ascension.

And don’t forget, that d-bag Clark Hunt voted in favor of the Rams moving to LA.

Phukkk KC! Don’t give them attention.
It’s so any Kc talk can stick to this thread and not end up in other threads. If you don’t want to see it then don’t click it. It isn’t hard to avoid this thread. I click on it about once a month because I don’t personally care much about what goes on there, but I know some here want to keep up to date on things there and this thread does that.

Like how it allows them to steal state money for international air flights?

Wait till you see them get state money for their new domed football stadium and get a Super Bowl.

Want me to continue? They are the competition and must be defeated.

Take your own advice and shut the fu*k up already.  Like four four people waste their time posting in this thread.  No one else cares.

You have a real tough-guy persona. I wonder if you’d talk like that in person.

It’s a little baffling seeing people up in arms and fighting in this thread over nothing. Calm down, folks. I think it’s interesting seeing what KC is up to and their successes or failures can inform ours. They’re our friends out here in a rough state lol.

Having two thriving cities with increasing populations and thriving economies would be a good thing to counter the ever-growing Republican menace within the state.

St. Louis is in no position to criticize Kansas City. It's a much better managed city and Lambert would be lucky to look as modern as their new terminal. Last time I was at Lambert it was a complete embarrassment. St. Louis take very little civic pride in it's public infrastructure and it's really pathetic.  All you have to do its take any major highway into downtown St. Louis and ask yourself what sane company or transplant would want to live in St. Louis based off of that perception. Our political and business community should really be ashamed. We can't even get the convention center off the ground. Imagine that, a region of nearly 3 million people can't even get a basic convention center redevelopment done and our downtown streetscapes are some of the worst I've seen in America. I love St. Louis and think it has potential to be one of America's great cities again, but it really sucks how provincial and backwards it can be at times.

STL needs to be rooting for all of our neighbor cities. The midwest as a whole has been largely stagnant or shrinking compared to the rest of the country. That creates headwinds for every single city in the midwest including STL. Chicago is an absolute powerhouse but imagine what it would look like if the midwestern/rustbelt region was as successful as the coasts?

Rising tide lifts all boats, but a receding tide also lowers all boats.

This isn’t true. Everyone acknowledges Lambert needs to be updated, that’s why it’s being updated. There’s nothing embarrassing about it. Term 1 is an architectural gem and it’s connected to both our CBD’s by a convenient light rail system (much larger cities than StL would kill for such connectivity).

I guess I’m an insane person for transplanting to StL?

The convention center is “off the ground”.

I don’t believe you love St. Louis.

Is there any reason other than aesthetics that new airport terminals have 40 ft ceilings? If not, I hope we avoid that design in our new terminal.

So you like the oppressive 10-12 foot ceilings at Lambert? This why every other city is passing us by: people are fine with the status quo.

Bright terminals with high ceilings make things feel more open and less cramped. Especially when things are busy as it allows for more air flow and less noise. You're going to be stuck for 1-12 hours in a compressed metal tube in seats that are uncomfortable for anyone over 5'6" and 140 pounds. Might as we have some comfort while waiting to get on.

I think it’s exciting to see the fanfare of the new KC airport about to open. The hype spurred by the Chiefs SB win makes the feeling that much greater. Too me there’s nothing to be jealous about KC what KC does there works for them & what STL does for here works for us & let’s be real there’s no perfect city. There’s good happening here as well & we already know that. Anyways this is a thread for KC while I’m not a KC cheerleader I’m not one to want them to do bad either I have several dear friends that live in KC but for the ones that left STL stop criticizing StL you chose to leave here for your own personal reasons let it be. There are both good & bad people in every city. Congrats to KC on the new airport & SB win.

No I don’t think that. Lambert’s ceilings are too short, but I think they need another 10 or so feet, not 30 lol.

If anything, good competition between the cities that isn't destructive is the best for both. Push each other to be better so that in the end each other's metro areas improve.

It's sad the rural minority in Missouri run the state and are at war with it's biggest cities.

Republicans are on a path to continue to hollow out the state.

Lux Living of St. Louis is proposing a 200-room, 14-story hotel and an adjacent 30-story, 300 apartment tower. The development would be on an acre site at the northeast corner of 14th and Wyandotte.

Developer proposes residential, hotel high-rises in downtown Kansas City

Lux Living filed development plans Tuesday afternoon for a 200-room hotel in a 14-story building and an adjacent 30-story tower with 300 apartments on about an acre northeast of 14th and Wyandotte streets. The property now is the site of a vacant lot and surface parking. The site has the 1400KC office building, the future headquarters for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City, to the south, the Crowne Plaza Kansas City Downtown hotel to the north and the Power & Light Apartments to the east.

A representative for the builder applied to the city in late January but details beyond the unit count were not available until this week. Lux officials could not be reached immediately for additional information.

Maybe tone down the font size too lol.

It's excessively large and intimidating. Needs some tweaking too but we'll see what happens here. This will be a hot topic and I imagine it will face opposition from Cordish and the Power and Light Building owner. Depending on an incentive ask, and what kind, this might stir up the KCTenants and KCPS crowd and make it dead on arrival.

Could be an OK looking building with some major tweaks. Mostly, it's top heavy. Really clumsy looking. And I'd really like to see it step back to acknowledge that Art Deco gem next door.
