It’s the Trupianos. By the end of summer there will be some sort of law enforcement shenanigans there. And they’ll blame everyone else for it.  It’s what they’ve done for decades.

Not exactly ground breaking or exciting.  Myself, I would have done the entire Rhone-Charleville-Hamtilon's-Garage as a food hall years ago.  Knock out some passage ways between them and have something they could easily turn a profit on, create an unmistakable creative culinary anchor for a re-envisioned Chouteau Corridor.  Again my own opinion, most of this complex is kinda filled with what are either flyover, the duplicative without innovative, or oddly too niche.  Then you have Vin de Set, 1111, PW all fighting one another.  None are signature restaurants any longer.  They need some fresh wind in their sails.  I of course appreciate all of their investment but it might be time to hand off the business development reigns to someone else..

Rhone was unique. I was bummed to see that one go down.

To my knowledge they haven't had issues at the 7th Street location since their 3 AM license was revoked a few years back. I'm also unaware of any problems at their Lemay location.

That’s good to hear. And they clearly sunk some pretty good money in to these renovations.

I’ll have to give them a try and keep an open mind even with their very poor track record.

Indeed, unique.  Borders on way too niche.  Kind of cringey like a Bar Rescue remake.  Again, maybe it's just my cup of tea.  But not sure how you're going to really drive people in the door with frozen daquiris in the middle of winter.  It looks like it's still open btw, though maybe moreso event space now.

Curious to see how many of the posters on UrbanSTL have favorite North City spots for food?

I don't have many, but Piekutowski Sausage in Hyde Park is excellent (though not a restaurant). Bing Lau in Jeff-Vander-Lou serves pretty good St. Louis-style fried rice and St. Paul sandwiches.

I visited Jerk Soul in Hyde Park several times before they relocated to the Cherokee Street area.
My default answer is always La Mancha Coffeehouse, but alas, their last day was yesterday, March 17, 2022. After 11 years in business (and 20+ years as neighbors) the owners are relocating out of St. Louis and closing the coffee shop. It's a big loss for the neighbors as far as community gathering places go. We still have Crown Candy at least, but I am hopeful a business as equally committed to the community will fill the space at 2800 N. 14th.

You can bet this is a response to the new patio in Chris' development coming soon.  That's a good thing.
They won't really compete which other. 744's garden space will be a component of the garage venue and used as such. Broadway Oyster Bar, Angry Beaver, the Garage, Beale, BB's, and the Honky Tonk all help play roles in Music Quarter. They'll all benefit from each other's success. The more beer gardens and patios, the better.

You bet.  More patios and bigger capacities will generate more bodies and create synergies for the entire area.  I would expect BOB's expansion to allow for booking acts which simply won't work right now.

Grbic Restaurant, which just celebrated its 20th year in business, continues to invest in its neighborhood. They are almost complete with a re haul of their event space that’s attached to the restaurant. Also adding a covered patio

Not sure if this has already been posted, but a new restaurant, In Da Loop, has opened at the old Randolfi's spot at 6665 Delmar. Seems to be a woodfire burger and pizza joint. Haven't been yet, but the prices and food look decent based on their Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/indaloopstl/

I don't think the new one (former Starbucks) is open daily, is it?

They have a big sign out front that says "daily" but their hours, whatever they were when I walked past and looked at the front door, definitely showed them not being open on weekends, at least that was the case a few weeks ago.

Hope they don't fall into the standard downtown biz trap of continually reducing hours to like 15 per week.
I learned yesterday (the hard way) that Park Avenue closes at 2.
It’s been closing at 2 since the pandemic started.

There are multiple people here (including myself) who have struck out at Park Ave before 2pm. I am simply asking if in addition to closing at 2pm are they also completely closed on some days.

It’s happened on a Thursday and a Sunday; both times around 10:30ish.

How's the foot traffic been? The owner of Park Ave seems to be a big proponent of downtown, so hoping that they'll succeed.

It's been ok. I'd say at the same level the Starbucks used to be back in the day, at least at the time I go there. We are usually a 5-10 people group and there is consistently one or two other groups at the same time as us.

^Interesting. I'll have to keep that in mind. Sounds a little more upscale than my usual joint, but seafood and dim sum are always plusses. Sounds darned promising.

Sad. While I am relieved that the gin room is not closing, I really liked the food menu (which will likely change with the new concept).
