Café Miami coming to 2022 S. 12th in Soulard.  This used to be the home of Soulard Gryo and Deli before they moved.  Good to see this space filled along with the old Nadine's nearby.

The old Mango spot is getting filled! The owners of Buenos Aires Café in the Foundry and Gauchos Steakhouse in Fairview Heights will be opening Fariñas, an Argentinian steakhouse concept. They're planning to open in late March/early April. Looks like they were specifically wanting to open a restaurant on Wash Ave., too, which is interesting to me.

Is the downtown Park Avenue Coffee already done for? Tried twice on recent mornings and both times they were closed. They show hours.

Are you talking about the new location at 6th and Olive where Starbucks was?   It’s open daily til 2 (including today) or the original location on 10th?
Both locations. And I was there before 9am.

Second time just drove down to Lafayette Square where they were busy. I should have asked the barista, but they were in the weeds and didn't want to bother them.
Was this during the week or on a weekend?

Yep. Maybe just me, but looked like they freshened it up some too.

I think you mean the downtown JJ's is "open." Closing at 3 and no weekend hours (if their hours can be believed now) is pretty terrible and adds little to downtown, which is fine for M-F lunch options. It's evenings and weekends when options are slim.

Jimmy John's must be bottom of the barrel in terms of pay. Out of all the local locations I've ever visited, most close before dark now. The Soulard one closes at 5pm. Used to be open super-late. CWE one also used to be open later and now it closes at 6pm. At least the one by SLU is still open pretty late. Strange turn given its start as an Illinois college town late-night staple.

I don't think the new one (former Starbucks) is open daily, is it?

They have a big sign out front that says "daily" but their hours, whatever they were when I walked past and looked at the front door, definitely showed them not being open on weekends, at least that was the case a few weeks ago.

Hope they don't fall into the standard downtown biz trap of continually reducing hours to like 15 per week.
I learned yesterday (the hard way) that Park Avenue closes at 2.

Is Broadway Oyster Bar expanding their patio by pushing the stage back?

^ But...there are parking spots there. 🤔 I can only assume this means a demolish is imminent nearby to compensate!

This is great to see, along with the work Chris & Co. are getting done across the street. Good stuff.

Awesome! I hope it can expand to the sidewalk as that is an important puzzle piece to the areas streetwall. Perhaps another entrance on 4th.

Awesome. I truly believe activating this area from Busch Stadium to Soulard is the key to make STL a hot destination city

You can bet this is a response to the new patio in Chris' development coming soon.  That's a good thing.

A serious road diet on Broadway/7th through the whole area would do wonders. Widen the sidewalks, add more bumpouts, slow traffic down, add better lighting and more and larger street trees, make it more walkable and more pleasant.

This would be wonderous, in addition to benefiting the area around the Broadway Oyster Bar, I think road dieting Broadway (& 4th St) downtown would help connect Laclede's Landing and the Arch to downtown nearly as much as demoing the raised section of highway. I is truly unfortunate that a street cutting through the heart of the area is so unpleasant to be a pedestrian on.

^Agreed. Widen the sidewalks and line it with rentable stalls. Make this America's first street-food destination. (Clearly I'm dreaming, but . . . )

LOL, Social House in Soulard is now Social Bar & Grill, a "family-friendly" sports pub.

Going the more respectable route with the new 300 unit apartment complex going in just to their north. Good business plan.
