Havana's is great. Unfortunately it's now only open past 4pm on Friday and Saturday.

Snarf's has also greatly cut back hours. Planet Sub used to be open in the evening, I thought. Even that newish bodega, One Cafe, has terrible food hours. The new KFC has even trimmed its hours slightly since opening, though they say it's temporary.

The evening fast service food options downtown can seem pretty slim at times, especially on weekdays.

The commercial rents in the loop are eye popping. It doesn't take long to get into the hole if things aren't working out.

Havanas will go back to 11-7 weekdays in spring

In March at the Enterprise Center you can see 7 Blues games, entire Missouri Valley Conference basketball tournament and separate concerts by New Edition, Eric Church, Tool, Journey and Elton John

with that in mind and a full slate of baseball in April (hopefully). I don’t understand how to bar/restaurant space in between enterprise and Busch stay vacant for long- corner of Tucker and Clark where maurizio's pizza was

I think that restaurant might have some structural problems. They had piping problems in the bathroom several times I went there.

Sad to see Soulard Coffee Garden close but I know the owner is up there in age and had wanted to sell for awhile.
Goshen Coffee of Edwardsville moving in is promising though.

Continuing the trend of Soulard centered businesses being replaced by satellite locations of other regional staples (see Nadine's Gin Joint being replaced by Crow Bar of Maplewood)

https://www.thetelegraph.com/news/artic ... 839769.php

Also: Nadine is opening Nadine's Hash House in the old Billie's location on S. Broadway in Kosciusko.

The Gallina husband and wife team announced 3 new restaurants concepts today, one at the new pavilion in cortex at their current restaurant , another during something old into new (taking over and reopening a recently closed restaurant?) and a big project a bit outside city limits (sounds like a country side restaurant)

I am a huge fan of Goshen Coffee, so glad to hear this.  Though Coffeestamp will now have to compete with them for my business...

Anyone hear anything about the Bar Louie CWE space? One story I heard is the rent demands are so high nobody wants to/could go in. But maybe the AC Hotel opening and other developments will spur someone to give it a shot.

Also, the First Watch on Euclid has signage indicating a 2/28 opening.

I haven’t heard anything on Bar Louie but also hopeful given the AC hotel across the street. It’s such a large restaurant/bar space (and expensive) so I imagine the list of potential tenants isn’t very big.

While on the topic, anyone know if anything is happening with the former Wild Flower space on Euclid & Laclede? For rent sign is down and doesn’t appear listed online anymore. Lights have also been on inside when I’ve walked by.

I also wouldn't be shocked to see it split in to two spaces.

Interesting to see several coffee places in St. Louis with plans to branch out to second locations, though I'm not sure if Coma Coffee's Grove space is ever going to pan out. I haven't seen any movement on that in well over a year.

Coffeestamp seems like a roasting/coffee company that could easily open a second spot and continue to thrive.

Not sure where I'd put it, though, as their current vibe fits Fox Park so well. I guess I'd love to see them in a spot on the Locust corridor, be it Downtown West or Midtown.

I'm rarely ever over in Metro East, so I'd never heard of Goshen. I'm looking forward to trying it when it comes over to Soulard.

Speaking of empty restaurants in the CWE, what ever happened to El Sitio? Sounded like a really cool concept, but it's been nearly half a year now since it was supposed to open.

You can get their whole bean at Schnucks and (I think) Fields Foods.  My personal favorites are Bona Fide, Old School Tattoo and the Guatemala Cachito roast types.

Really hope something gets placed there, especially with WEGAP closing up the street. I've always thought that would be an ideal spot for a coffee shop based on the size, lack of coffee shops in the CWE, and the number of grad students in that area.

Or what's up with the old Einstein Bros space at Euclid and Laclede?

Still has the for rent sign out. I saw someone getting a tour of the place several months back, but doesn’t seem like that went anywhere.

In the meantime I’m going to keep dreaming for a sweetgreen or similar salad place to open there. 😄

There's an east coast salad chain by the name of Chopp'd that my wife badly wants in St. Louis.

I don't think they're even in Chicago, so it's going to be a while if they ever do come.

Ahh, Chopt. Had it all the time when we lived in DC.  Yeah, the closest location is in Nashville - but there are sweetgreens in Chicago. Not as good as Chopt in our opinion, but still delicious.

Yes, Chopt.

My wife lived in DC for six years and thinks there is no good comp for it in St. Louis (or Kansas City, MO or Lawrence, KS -- the three places we've lived together).

I know a lot of people like that place. I've never been, so I can't say; but my wife has been, and she tells me it is no Chopt.
