From the STLFD twitter, looks like a car crushed the corner building at S. Compton and Arsenal. Wonder how fast this asshat was going through the 4 way stop?

Driver and passenger got out just before the collapse.

Too bad they didn't drop a couple of Ingrassia's big balls in front of the building corner.  Those would have at least slowed them down some...

Umm...how?

Did he take out the corner ball too, just miss it, or did the city remove it since the Google last passed by?

Then one tried to burn down the Orion! What did we do to anger them!

^I got the impression he drove right through the ball. Not sure how he pulled that off and kept breathing after, but . . . jumping Jimminy. And some dorf on Reddit had the gall to berate the traffic circles in Carondelet Park. We really really need more traffic calming on about every dang street in this town. :( Road diets, chicanes, bumpouts, and traffic circles all around please. Textured pavers. No parking minimums. Fewer curb cuts. Generally less space for people to fly their steel into things.

Jesus. That's a horrible story, and I hope they catch the POS who hit her and took off, but what the f*** was she thinking riding a bicycle in the far left lane of a freaking interstate?

Would proper metal bollards have stopped the car any better? As we know those balls aren't the sturdiest things ever.

I always go back to when I was in Madrid and most car-trafficked streets were lined with them.  The roads were of course narrower as well, but the combination of those two, and the restricted traffic (and robust public transit rail) really added up to a lovely experience.

The occupants of the second car fled from the vehicle and were picked up by someone, according to a police report.
Seeing something like this line too often.
