“Knows how to play” could be Purina referring to pets.

It’s just hard for me to believe Imos has the cash for jersey sponsorship
There are sleeve sponsors too. Imo's might be able to swing one of those. Maybe.

There are also sponsorship opportunities in and around the stadium as well. Pavilions, supporter section, VIP club, the plaza, etc.  Those are probably more suitable for all the hometown companies often mentioned.  I would like to see Stifel as the jersey sponsor, but no idea if they'd be interested.

Curious though that nobody ever mentions Wells Fargo as a stadium or jersey sponsor possibilty...especially since they are just down Market Street.

Here's the current list of jersey and sleeve/short sponsors from wikipedia. Other than regional banks and healthcare systems they seem to be pretty national scope (Imo's does seems like an unlikely outlier). Energizer would be kind of funny/clever for soccer players to run around wearing.

So will it be Purina across the chest of the kits? Or is this just the first company to formally sign an endorsement deal with the club?

No better choice to be on the kits than kitty food.

My prediction and pipe dream of the team playing in 2022 was way off.  However, I’m continually impressed by STLCitySC’s ownership group’s ability to get things done.  The Purina announcement this morning was excellent, well done, and a lot of fun.  I’m looking forward to many more of these marketing drips over the next 2 years.

According to at least one article, St. Louis City SC's partnership with Purina is in part about making St. Louis City SC the "most pet friendly team in the county."

I wonder what that means? Purina Dog Night at the Park? Pet giveaways such as food bowls or a City-branded chew toy? City-branded scratching posts for cats?

Glad to see it's anyone other than Enterprise or WWT and that St. Louis' relatively strong corporate community is starting to show its support.

^^ I read they want to help with pet adoption too.

^ Same, though I expected as much. I thought I read awhile back the MLS was pretty adamant about getting other companies on board and not having Enterprise and WWT fund the entire thing.

This also strengthens STLs presence in the league. Already have one of the most recognizable sponsors in the league and I’m sure this is not unnoticed at MLS HQ.

Purina makes great sense. It's an established Large Cap global brand that can readily increase its marketing through this partnership. Plus, as the company was bought by Nestle in 2001, I'm sure the Swiss ownership look gladly upon their brand label on a new American soccer kit. Not only that, but the stadium is right next door to Stray Rescue, which already has their people walking their dogs around this part of Downtown West. Having people walking dogs every day around the new stadium sponsored by Purina makes incredibly good sense (even though Stray Rescue's big pet food sponsor currently is Blue Buffalo).

What would be awesome?
Have the coaches' uniforms sport the Purina logo on the upper right corner.

Who else had the Purina logo emblazoned on the upper right corners of their uniforms?
The Rebel Alliance.

Lots of kit potential here:

Rotate the above checkerboard pattern 90° clockwise, with solid fuschia around the shoulders, transitioning to mostly dark blue w/ small fuschia squares (like the right quarter of the image above) at the chest, where the Purina logo would be, with solid blue waist and shorts...

"If this is a granular ship then where is the bran-bassador?" I won't describe the degree to which I freeze framed my way through Harmy's Despecialized Edition, or what I actually found there, but . . . Yes! I will totally fan out for your StL City Rebel Football Alliance! Especially if they make a good run on that small moon that "carries a firepower greater than half the star league."

Lol, um, oh man...

Hey CITY SC, little help here...? Kick in for a surveyor for half a day, maybe? These fields are only 6 blocks from your new stadium.

It would be nice if they could show these fields some love/support.

Those are the DeSoto Park soccer fields.  As far as I know the city keeps them and the rest of the park maintained (not that a two or three year old satellite view represents today's conditions, however).  I wonder if the long running adult-semipro leagues are still using them on a regular basis like they used to.  Either way, they're just meant to be two public access fields for pickup games and non-reservation use...short of maybe donating some money to the Parks Department, why should a public park fall under the prevue of the MLS group?

Something along the lines of what the Cardinals do with baseball fields.

Build the game by improving fields so that soccer playing is more enjoyable.

^ I imagine something like that will be included in this:
https://news.stlpublicradio.org/sports/ ... th-academy
St. Louis City SC’s academy model will eventually expand to include a total of four youth teams, plus an under-21 development team.

The organization also plans to provide free community training to kids under 13, create more green spaces in neighborhoods and develop programs to train coaches at high schools and other youth clubs.
I think these programs will have a very sizable effect on building the game across St. Louis.

But I certainly don’t have a problem with the Taylor’s doing even more...

Exactly that.

Since CITY has chosen to make all three fields around their training compound inaccessible to the public, they really ought to help fund some public fields nearby. And I can't see any place better suited for their first, and model, project, than these neglected soccer fields.

The fields are in a city park (DeSoto Park). The brand new 20th Street bike/pedster trail and street improvements will pass right next to them. The park is right next to Gateway Middle School, KIPP Academy and St. Stanislaus, and adjacent to a public housing complex full of kids. The fields are just a quarter mile south of NGA West, and, again, only about 6 blocks north of the new soccer stadium/campus... The only closer available space that could fit a public field is the vacant lot between Delmar, MLK, 21st and 22nd, but that's privately owned.

As far as I can tell, about all the city has done for these fields is to plant some grass and trees, restore the park benches, and maybe put in some new goal frames (more likely those were provided by the adult league). The field still isn't laid out correctly though. And it obviously doesn't have permanent markings, lighting, bleachers, restrooms, or any regular maintenance beyond mowing, apparently.

^The DeSoto Soccer Fields are intended to be redeveloped as a Rugby Stadium as part of Northside Regeneration, which has recently been made public. Perhaps this discussion would be better under that thread than the MLS thread. Still, I hope some new work's been done on the fields since these satellite photos were taken.

^ & ^^ Got a game plan to cover both.   DeSoto park remains soccer fields with Covid dollars for park/turf upgrades and MLS team sponsorship to maintain the turf for next 10 years.    The Rugby Stadium goes and replaces GRG large Chouteau surface parking lot

You mean Paul McKee's "vision" for a city-owned park? 🙄  Wait...was that sarcasm? I can never tell...

Anyway, while we are waiting decades for McKee's visions to materialize, it could serve as a public soccer field or fields.  For that matter, there's no reason I can see that an upgraded, lighted, and well-maintained public soccer field couldn't accommodate a rugby field as well.
