They did have a rooftop overlook on the original renderings, but from the looks of this hotel, that would have been waaay outside their budget...jshank83 wrote: ↑Jan 29, 2021Here we go. I couldn't tell by pics. Either way it looks like it overlooks Union Station somewhat.
I see what you mean. Great view, and it definitely overlooks the practice fields to some degree, but I'm fairly certain this is on the ground floor, off of the bar on the Market Street end of the hotel. No idea if it's open to the public, but the bar itself appears to be very small.
It seems a glacier is forming where the Market Street viaduct once was:
I don't recall ever being so overjoyed to witness the destruction of an highway overpass.

I must say that Twitter people sure do like the MLS Stadium project. Every time an update on the stadium is put out by me or anyone else, people retweet it and like it like crazy.
I love to see it as it shows people are very excited for this (as they should be). Our team is going to be extremely popular. I can tell already.
^ I think there’s quite a bit of overlap between the young and “very online” types and MLS fans.
This is my favorite project happening in all of STL right now too...but I’m in my 30s and don’t do the Twitter no more haha.

I still think it shows great enthusiasm. Many of the people liking my tweet have CitySC things on their accounts. Even people no longer on twitter but on Facebook seem happy to have this going on and look forward to going to a game.sc4mayor wrote: ↑Feb 24, 2021^ I think there’s quite a bit of overlap between the young and “very online” types and MLS fans.

Not something we need to discuss much but I thought it was of note since they came in with us. Sacramento not moving forward with expansion. I figured it was on the rocks when their stadium wasn’t started yet.
In my opinion, STL City SC’s debut was pushed to 2023, not primarily because of COVID, but because of Sacramento’s slow progress. Both expansions were lumped together and leapfrogged by Charlotte’s stadium availability. Could STL City’s SC timeline move up 2022 again? I’d love to see that happen as the stadium should be just about ready to go.
The stadium won't be turned over until late June or July of next year at the earliest, so they would have to find someplace else to play for at least 4 months.NateM___ wrote: ↑Feb 27, 2021In my opinion, STL City SC’s debut was pushed to 2023, not primarily because of COVID, but because of Sacramento’s slow progress. Both Nashville SC and FC Cincinnati have played and are playing in temp stadiums. I’m optimistic because of Lutz’s tweets today about scouting players. STL City SC seems to be out in front of the stadium construction in terms of key hires, etc and the MLS needs TV revenue. I could see 2022 happening.
That is big news. Could Lindenwood's stadium be of use, if they started in 22? It's a nice looking stadium that holds around 7,500 currently with room to expand. Just a thought.
Eh...I really don’t see 2022 happening. 2023 is already on the schedule...why move it up into a temporary stadium when you can start fresh in your own park from day one?
No doubt that STL is on the ball...maybe even ahead of it a bit...but I’m not seeing that translate into an earlier start.

^I am with you. Kind of late to move it back up. They could play in the dome pretty easily for a few games but I feel like at this point it would be a rush to move back up.
They never made a payment.wabash wrote: ↑Feb 27, 2021Hopefully MLS gets to keep some Burkle's expansion fee.
On top of that they never even signed the paperwork. Seems like that should be a pre requisite for an announcement you are getting a team.
As anyone heard whispers of other neighboring developments?
Currently we have the Butler Brothers building citing the stadium as critical to supporting redevelopment.
Would be great to get a list going to measure the actual economic impact...

The idea of replacing the Pear Tree Inn was kicked around, but isn’t moving forward right now. The idea was to build a new hotel where the parking garage is currently then demolished the current building and build something else on the parcel facing Market Street or just put the land up for sale.addxb2 wrote:As anyone heard whispers of other neighboring developments?

The reason why it isn’t moving forward is that too my understanding, Drury isn’t in too good of financial shape right now. So some projects that were in their pipeline were cancelled and some of their hotel properties they are quietly selling to restaurants that occupy a portion of their space or other partners. Not all of them of course, but it’s happening.
Sam Light Loans is moving, which is surprising given how long they've been there, Is that an attempt to capture MLS Stadium momentum, or maybe the Midtown connector momentum?

They finally sold their property? One things for certain... downtown west/Midtown are going to look a heck of a lot different in 10 years.eee123 wrote:Sam Light Loans is moving, which is surprising given how long they've been there, Is that an attempt to capture MLS Stadium momentum, or maybe the Midtown connector momentum?
