You would assume that the return on investment in terms of reduced utilities bills over the structures life cycle would easily pay for it and therefore a no brainer. Wonder if it is even a serious consideration from the architect/design when large structures are involved. I assume solar panels would easily pay for themselves on the large multiple distribution warehouse built throughout the regain and the nation for that matter in building life cycle cost as well.
I recommend adding www.soccerstadiumdigest.com to your favorites to track the design and building of other MLS, USL, and other soccer specific stadiums for comparison. Just my opinion, but the new Columbus Crew has a few design features that I prefer, but overall the STL stadium design is superior to Austin, Nashville, Sacramento, and especially Cincinnati who chose an oval vs. rectangle.dbInSouthCity wrote: ↑Dec 17, 2020why does it look so unimpressive from the outside, the entire stadium does.
That's the future swimming pool and diving tank on the northeast corner of the pitch and sideline of the Supporters' Section.STLinCHI wrote: ↑Jan 17, 2021Wondering why a large deep hole has been dug where the east side of the grandstand will be built. Anyone have insight?
I can't believe they haven't demolished this ridiculously wide, depressing mass of concrete yet. If Market Street is to reopen in mid-March, they're going to have to get crackin'...chriss752 wrote: ↑Jan 24, 2021South of Market update - not much going on. Clark Street extension is visible. I looked through the architectural drawings for the training center and Pavilion. They are pretty basic - no surprises. The only detail of note is that both buildings are a full two levels.chriss752 wrote: ↑Jan 24, 2021South of Market update - not much going on. Clark Street extension is visible. It has a rooftop patio. Not sure if it’s for guests only or if they have a bar up there (or you can take drinks up from the bar).urbanitas wrote: ↑Jan 25, 2021^What is most disappointing, however, is that not only is there zero space for fans to watch the activity on the practice fields, but the fencing and landscaping layout seems to be designed to discourage it.
I suspect that security at the Drury and Fairfield Inns will be spending a great deal of time chasing people away from the top level of their garages...

It has some kind of patio with a picture on the website. I guess it could be not on the roof. I couldn't tell by pics. Either way it looks like it overlooks Union Station somewhat.urbanitas wrote: ↑Jan 27, 2021The Fairfield Inn has a rooftop patio?jshank83 wrote: ↑Jan 26, 2021It has a rooftop patio. Here we go. A pic Chris posted from his drone.urbanitas wrote: ↑Jan 28, 2021
I see what you mean. Great view, and it definitely overlooks the practice fields to some degree, but I'm fairly certain this is on the ground floor, off of the bar on the Market Street end of the hotel. No idea if it's open to the public, but the bar itself appears to be very small.
