They started installing the metal panels on the south side of the building today. You can get a close-up view of installation as they go on piece by piece, if you're into that sort of thing...

^ I’d put good money on all of that getting some sort of a screen. The building isn’t done yet and considering the delays with the metal panels it’s not out of the question to assume they just don’t have the screen made or on site yet.
The rendering seems to show a tiny little sliver of a screen like feature on top of the building that kind of resemble the metal panels.

Hey, they quoted a studio at $1800 a month. Only 50% more money and maybe 300-400% less space. Hmm, I did just get the deposit refund from my last apartment and it was quite a bit larger than I expected...
I'm hoping for something along the lines of this building (The Sulgrave) I could see from my last place. From what I can tell it's just a metal wall that wraps around the roof junk and then at night it has pulsating lights in different colors.
I looked around at some of the more modern buildings in St. Louis and seems most of them have some sort of a screen or covering around their roof junk, though not all of them. To me it just doesn't seem like something an architect like this would overlook.

I'm more interested in knowing how well the parking screen turns out. Renderings aren't always accurate when it comes to them. When you're close to the building, you're not going to see the equipment on the roof. Sure, it looks bad when you're far away and zooming in with a camera. In person, however, I'm not really bothered by the roof. From afar, my eyes are drawn towards the gorgeous façade. But at street level, I'm fearful they might be drawn towards a terrible parking screen.
The glass in the renderings was so much lighter than the actual glass where the panels didn't stand out as much. What's everyone think of the lighter contrasting panels with the darker glass vs. the renderings with the lighter glass? From certain angles, the panels are as dominate as the glass, such as the view from the construction cam at the Park Plaza or from the construction cam at Brookings Hall looking over the park to the CWE skyline. Does it appear different or better/worse in person? Photos have looked great, but those long vertical 'stripes'...not sure I'm sold on those yet.
^I'm with you. I had thought the metal panels would be darker, and less of a contrast with the glass. I do think they'll look better with aging, though. Interior window treatments will also affect the finished look.
It's way darker then the rendering for sure, but I think it looks wonderful. I also think the look of the glass changes based on the conditions outside, among other things. Here is a screenshot from their instagram page:

I think depending on the lighting you get different shades in the glass...which honestly is one of my favorite things about the building being a photographer and all.

100 Above the Park looks a lot like its older sibling Solstice on the Park, only better.
