RE the Reddit post
I have been curious about the window washing situation.
I'm guessing it involves some really long poles, or...robots!?  Or, robots with really long poles?

They do seem to be able to adjust their platforms to the shape of the building and somehow pull them in close to the surface to install the metal panels, so I'm guessing it will be something similar with the window washing platforms.

The bird comment interests me, as I seem to recall they actually took that into account, and the fact that the windows are angled down and will reflect ground from a birds eye view should help.

Also: 1800 would get you a bedroom for your cot and a heck of a view. You're paying for the view. Some people are just going to complain. Is it expensive? Yes. Is that unreasonable? Probably not. It's a very good argument against tax abatements, though.

I'm surprised there isn't a per-pane or facade built in automatic window washing contraption yet that can come down and retract on a regular basis.

A fellow employee of mine and his wife are moving to STL from Chicago. They selected the 100 as it is larger and the price was about the same as their studio in river north area of Chicago. They move in on September 1st. He said it made convincing the wife a lot easier to move here after she saw the building and the views of Forest Park. She is an architect.

The original WTC towers had automatic window-washing machines on the roof, allegedly due to Minoru Yamasaki's fear of heights. Each machine took a week to do one side of the towers, then rotated to the next side. There's an interesting documentary about it on Youtube.

Tower's completely gone and it looks like some of the garage cladding is starting to get installed.

Does anyone else think the panels on the bottom two floors are a little darker than the panels on the top floor?

So the billboard near the tower has this picture with what I thought was an artifact but maybe the garage panels will have perforations in a swirling pattern....
if so, Cool !!

It’s not going to be the most glamorous podium. These are the latest renderings of the base.

^Oof, more obtrusive HVAC equipment on the roof...

And what's up with that bird? It looks cardinal red but I've never seen a cardinal behave that way. Looks like he is on a strafing run.

Clayco - Projects

The view on the left is why I think this design is going to be superior to other Studio Gang projects. The variety of light interaction, reflection and shading, on just a cloudy day no less, is amazing. And most of the metal panels aren't even in place yet...

^ Definitely a striking design, and a welcome addition.  Hopefully when it's totally complete, the garage and roof equipment won't even be a thought.  I wonder how it would look if they just added the one level of the garage screen to the top?

I don't find the actual structures on the roof that obtrusive. They're in neutral tones, don't rise too high, and I believe will be further blocked by a low parapet (basically what is currently made out of 2x4s)

The exposed shiny metal duct work and dark grey blower is bad though. It just seems lazy. It's too bad it couldn't be masked by / incorporated into the structure it's sitting on top of.

I was good with the roof mech stuff until I saw that plenum and blower shaped like a snail. It does look horrible and cheap, really hope they do something different there. It is extremely visible and unlike the other things that just look like masses, is recognizable as a distinct shape which really affects the building

It really does look terrible. With a little foresight they easily could have wrapped it with a "crown" of sorts to block view of HVAC and make the building look taller. They even could have lit it up different colors at night like the Centene building

I think it adds a subtle cheapness to the look.  Same as using those ugly off white filler panels instead of something that complements the finish of the glass, like a polished metal or something.  It's not a game changer, but yeah, the solution is pretty simple.  And would make the building stand out even more.

^^ in the renderings the metal panels had an Art Deco look about them, actually more similar to the panels that they're putting on the podium. these have no texture at all—just looks like off-white mesh—and there is way too much contrast between the panels and the glass. eh, maybe the finished product will surprise us. either way it's a pretty neat building.

^Yep. My thoughts too. I'm hoping that as the panels weather, they'll take on a more interesting appearance. They garage panels are looking pretty good, though.

They don't look like this yet, for sure, but maybe they still have to spray them with the hot wax cycle... 🙂

It also looks like the floors will lease a bit staggered.  7-14 will be available by July 15th, 15-27 on August 17th, and 28-36 on September 7th.
Looks like the move-in dates have been bumped out by about a month (3 weeks for the top floors). The website now shows:

Floors 7-14: August 15th
Floors 15-27: September 16th
Floors 28-36: September 29th
They've bumped out the move-in dates by another 2-3 weeks:

Floors 7-14: September 1st
Floors 15-27: October 9th
Floors 28-36: October 16th
Move-in date for the top tranche - floors 28-36 - changed again to November 1st.
