Realistically, what could you fit there? I guess they are closing Chouteau at Chroma, so it would be a little less of an island. But it is still rather small of a plot to do much with.
Never heard of a project for that wedge besides the Art Park that is currently going in. It is to small to be built on for any real building.gopherlou wrote: I thought I read before of a connected project with the wedge parcel directly east of this site, is there any work being done to that or it is staying the same for now?

Any update on this one? Did construction officially begin?
No construction yet. The fence has been up but nothing else. Last I heard, they were supposed to start in December, so there is still time. It was pushed back slightly for no given reason. I'll check in again with them and see what's up.
Update: Spencer got back to me and said that he is planning on initiating site prep work in early December. He says it will entail foundation work and utility work.
WUMCRC posted these on Twitter. I edited them to make them more visible. A sizable hole has formed.

I don't think so either, but I'm starting to get an idea. Going off the first pic of your last post, this could eventually be one of the most urban intersections in the city, and certainly one of the cooler ones. Is that gas station still there? For some reason I thought they tore that down but it kind of looks like the canopy is still there. If they can get that replaced with a nice corner building and that other wedge project just up the road gets done this is really going to be a neat (neater) area.

^Replacing that surface lot behind the Chouteau Building might have an even bigger impact. The gas station is ever so slightly off the main drag, but the surface lot will be right in the thick of it. Could be a great spot for the right mixed use.
The hole has been filled in with rocks and leveled. Foundation equipment should arrive soon. Based on what I have heard, we could begin seeing this thing rise by Late March/Early April (which is slow).
The construction crew (Alberici is the contractor) kicked off official constriction Monday with the drills drilling caissons. This process should take 3 to 4 weeks (18-24 days) due to the site being smaller and two drills being used. I thought I saw somewhere that 24 holes will be drilled but I can't seem to find that document now. A crane could be erected by Mid May. Construction is slated to be completed in late July/Early August 2020.

This is going to be one of the most architecturally significant buildings in St. Louis. Honestly pushing One Hundred in terms of design.

That's the 2019 version of brutalist architecture.
I like it.
I like it.
I believe this is Studio Gang, but don't take my word for it. I figured that it could be due to the scalloped walls in the balconies, the inclusion of nature into the design, something funky, the angled glass and the concrete supports along Chouteau. Those supports look like Vista Tower's in Chicago.

I love the roof top tree.
The building really fits the Grove, I think.

I don't think this is Studio Gang. Looks like just an updated version of the prior Trivers rendering.
That's pretty awesome! Actually reminds me a bit of Gaudi's "quarry" building in Barcelona:
1) The is pretty crazy stuff. Honestly I wasn't crazy about Trivers' previous design. This is slightly jaw dropping though.
2) Even if this design has been official for awhile now, this a huge change to make after site prep has already started.
3) Is there actual rumor that Studio Gang has been brought on or was that just pure speculation from the appearance? Because the latter would be shady even for this forum.

I speculated if it was Studio Gang because of the design. If Trivers did this, I’ll be surprised.aprice wrote:1) The is pretty crazy stuff. Honestly I wasn't crazy about Trivers' previous design. This is slightly jaw dropping though.

And if it’s shady, I never said I was bright.
