^ I noticed that today; building permits have been issued recently for a "2 story office bldng addition" and another for "building addition and renovation." $10M+

One less section of parking lot to look at, at the very least! Keep the medical campus construction rolling!
Also, has anyone heard an update on the new hospital "leaning" issue resolution? I've verified through BJC contacts that there is indeed an issue, but I haven't been able to figure out what the fix is/was and/or when it will finally open.

I don't know if there is a resolution but it's apparently pretty bad above the 6th floor. To the point that IV stands will roll if not lockedchaifetz10 wrote: ↑Jul 20, 2017One less section of parking lot to look at, at the very least! Keep the medical campus construction rolling!

Right. This is the part that I didn't believe at first until I confirmed with an internal BJC administrator. (Whether or not they actually tested it out themselves I don't know but they confirmed it's a real thing).
I'm curious how they are going to fix it and I assume all the costs associated with it are on the builderchaifetz10 wrote: ↑Jul 20, 2017Right. At least it's not as bad as the 58-story tower in San Francisco that's sunk 16" and is leaning.

I would say it all really depends on whats causing the leaning. It could just be ripping up the floors and compensating, or in extremely severe cases, demolition of the upper floors.

If either of these are the actual solutions, they're going to be in a world of hurt since all the electrical, plumbing, fixtures, build out, etc. is completed.Chalupas54 wrote: ↑Jul 20, 2017I would say it all really depends on whats causing the leaning. Socketsite is good development blog out here for SF. They been having running stories on the tower and litigation. It is right next to the new Transbay transit center that had a large underground excavation/hall built to accommodate future rail servicechaifetz10 wrote: ↑Jul 20, 2017If either of these are the actual solutions, they're going to be in a world of hurt since all the electrical, plumbing, fixtures, build out, etc. is completed.Chalupas54 wrote: ↑Jul 20, 2017I would say it all really depends on whats causing the leaning. getting way off topic but this story has been interesting to follow. Initial settlement was 2.5 inches but developer claiming settlement accelerated after transbay construction/excavation started.
The fix is $100-150 million to add more pilings on top of the 900 friction piles supporting the foundation (original design based on more piles using friction of soil instead of using less pilings but going to bedrock)
Just in case you missed Moorlander's post in the Cortex thread:chaifetz10 wrote: ↑Jul 20, 2017Tartlton has construction fencing up and around 4480 Clayton Ave (Southeast corner of Taylor and Clayton. It appears the parking lot on the East side, adjacent to the Shriners Hospital parking lot, has been torn up as well and heavy equipment is still on site.
I'm unable to find any info on what this may be either here, on NextSTL, WashU's Campus Renewal site, CORTEX's site, etc etc. Anyone have the inside scoop?
Washington University to consolidate IT staff in Cortex
Washington University officials plan to consolidate about 360 information technology workers into a building at 4480 Clayton Ave.
A majority of those employees are currently housed at the university’s west campus, in Clayton near the intersection of Forest Park Parkway and Forsyth Boulevard.
Already, Washington University is investing about $13 million to renovate and add onto the Clayton Avenue facility, which sits at the southwest edge of the Cortex innovation district.

^ Totes. If you live in the city, you no longer have to drive all the way out to St. Charles to see this sort of construction

Should see plans fairly soon for the SW corner of Taylor and FPP, probably 1st QT of 2018
Willing to bet another expansion on the College of Pharmacy and no more than 5 floors.
^I'll take that bet. The lot on the sw corner of Taylor & FPP is owned by WUSTL not STLCOP.

Well, that answers one of my questions. This should be a fun one to watch...
Didn’t know that. If that is the case, maybe it will be sold to them or a new hospital building built there. Either way, some form of a medical building/school is my bet.wabash wrote:^I'll take that bet. The lot on the sw corner of Taylor & FPP is owned by WUSTL not STLCOP.

Currently students live on Olin residence hall which is very outdated. They’re moving to apartment style housing next year at the corner of Clayton and Euclid that’s being currently renovated.
Ambulatory care center planned for the southwest corner of Forest Park Blvd. and Taylor. Could be 180,000 sq. ft.

Its actually going to take up that entire lot. 10-12 story building, 4 floors of parking, maybe ground floor coffee shop.
