If you squint, you can see an MLS Stadium behind all that parking.
This is complete speculation, but would it make sense for Dorsey to move most of Square operations to St. Louis if it is indeed true that Twitter could is a takeover target as being reported by San Fran Biz Journals? To me it makes sense from business standpoint as well as the fact that Square is getting more into financial services. Square could easily maintain San Fran HQ/innovative office but day to day in St. Louis. Heck, I would argue Square should be building its own Cloud if not doing it already.

Since Square's office opened, I've been hoping that Cortex, RCGA, City and State have been pumping Square about moving operations here.
If not, shame all around.

Looks like Westport/LHM snagged another local HQ move with an expanding company

St. Louis mentioned as Ag TECH Hot Bed
2. AOL founder and current venture capitalist Steve Case told Business Insider that St. Louis is one of several cities that are succeeding via corporate partnerships. Specifically, he said, “St Louis is particularly interesting because Monsanto is there, it’s now in the process of doing a big merger, I’ll bet you there’ll be dozens of people, maybe hundreds of people, who leave and do some startup thing, and St Louis will be a hive of activity around ag tech.”

Great success story in the Post-Dispatch about a company that sprang from the region's incubators and is now employing 30 people.
The Chicagoland native who came to St. Louis for college has put down roots here. Aided by the region’s startup incubation resources, he has since graduated into a market-rate leasehold for his growing business. Now, he’s investing in real estate, buying two old city buildings — one to provide more industrial space in case Sleeve a Message needs it and the other as space for a future restaurant.
Dresner credits the subsidized office and manufacturing space at area business incubators like T-Rex and STL VentureWorks, which he leaned on as he got the business running just out of college. And he pointed to the area’s industrial and manufacturing expertise and infrastructure, embodied in the small businesses and machinists that have managed to adapt to globalization.

Nestle USA bringing 300 IT jobs to STL, presumably downtown either at the main campus or joining their overflow in the CBD:

Note: The link above is now dead. It appears to have been an Associated Press article picked up by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, The Washington Post and others.ynot wrote: ↑Jan 17, 2017good to see a positive article about the region.

On a side note, a friend in L.A. works for Nestle USA in IT. He often would have to visit St. Louis to do work. I have to check with him now to see if he's a part of the IT move to St. Louis.

Bad news for the start-up scene, one of the things Missouri has been doing right the past few years. This is what happens when the blinders get put on, and you become hyper focused on the goal to achieve a balanced budget, regardless of the consequences.

I think it is one piece of the puzzle and tough to say how much it really helps or not. MO IMO does have this huge mess of various tax credit as well as corporate tax code rewrite that is starting to bite them in the arse while giving consumers the cheapest cig tax in land and one the cheapest gas tax in the land. Throw in the goofy tax on business equipment and tools. The big question, will MO go continue to go down the road of cutting education and higher ed, no infrastructure funding or at least try to get some semblance of a budget that invests in something.imthewiz wrote: ↑Feb 03, 2017http://www.bizjournals.com/stlouis/news ... j=77280121

I think Dave N with Post Dispatch had a nice write up of a start up that moved to St. Louis area, making some progress and the connections needed to make things work. Goes back to moorlander's comment also but some great corporate connections, assets and space that the regions has available once people find out about it.

Adding 300 IT professionals to any neighborhood seems like a big change. I did not realize that Nestle Purina had overflow office space in the CBD. What is the ratio of main campus to CBD?
- 2,430
^ Not sure quite on the headcount for the CBD, but they have significant space in the 100 N. Broadway tower across from the Old Court House... they were already there and picked up an additional 60.000 sq. ft. of space about a year ago. Hopefully these new folks will go into the CBD as well.
btw. Purina execs once were in Laclede's Landing... there was a good article about a year ago about the impact of the Arch construction etc. on the Landing that mentioned how lunch biz was rolling there back in the day... maybe late 80's or so.

I would have to assume this year Purina announces that they are buying the demo'd 900 South 13th Street lot and building a tower on it... they already have a ton of engineers downtown... adding 300 tech jobs... Satellite offices all over town... I even wouldn't think its out of the realm that they move parts of the Merrick (300+ employees TX) & Zuke's (50+ employees CO) brands that they bought to campus on site also... when I left in April last year they were busting at the seems even in their new building they just built... seems like it could be a sizable building. maybe...?

Just buy AT&T tower and move the whole organization there
- 516
^^^No!!!!!!!!!!! City Garden would get covered by dog poo from all the Purina employees bringing their dogs to work.
Not happening. I work in the Blanke Building (1300 Papin). That is becoming a parking lot for it. They just resurfaced it and put in gates.pattimagee wrote: ↑Feb 09, 2017I would have to assume this year Purina announces that they are buying the demo'd 900 South 13th Street lot and building a tower on it...

Doesn't mean they won't build somewhere else... They like to build. Lots of room in those parking lots!
That is possible. They have a lot of lots. My building actually parks in some of their lots now. I think this probably means we will be moving out of them. They could easily build a new building and add a parking garage.pattimagee wrote: ↑Feb 10, 2017Doesn't mean they won't build somewhere else... They like to build. Some 300 information technology jobs Swiss-based Nestlé SA plans to bring to St. Louis later this year are expected to work out of a downtown St. Louis building at 100 N. Broadway.
