Interesting side article on how Sofi withdrawing its application to form a bank might clear way for Square. It would interesting to know how much Square wants to do out of St Louis as they expand their footprint. The Journal noted that with Sofi withdrawing its application to run “an industrial company,” it clears the field for San Francisco-based payments company Square, which filed its own application in September to launch that type of bank.

The thought that came across my mind is this would be about the right size company and square footage to make its move out of T-Rex and take up on some space on a new Wash Ave modern/sleek small 3-4 corner story office building instead of some goofy out of place smallish townhouse plan.

^ Thanks for fixing. Interesting numbers. Considering a job to be "tech" could have a lot of gray area. Take an average software firm, they'll have a number of software developer/engineers (which I think any count would consider as a tech job), but likely also a number of employees in quality assurance, project management, sales, help desk, customer support, etc all which could range from being very technical to not very technical at all.
Quality of tech jobs are also key. For example, a software engineering job would generally be more lucrative than say tech support.

The big tech companies therefore the big job creators of the likes of Google, Facebook, Salesforce and Apple have all double downed in the Bay Area. I think Apple is the only one who has reached out and announce a similar second campus like Amazon in the future & believe that Google, Facebook and the likes have kept expansions to mostly large expensive metro areas. Its almost like we will pay you a little better to live in a very expensive area but if you want a job with us you need to figure out how to make it work.
What surprises me is that CORTEX/Wexford hasn't been able to pull some large tenants from respective coasts in life science/big pharma. The Bay Area and Boston have huge life science/pharma presence but the large cost of business to go with it. CORTEX seems ideally suited and region ideally located for back office lab work to compliment existing coastal research centers.

Might not be best thread to post this article but believe web/article photo on website is new Wexford/Microsoft building in CORTEX. Can anyone with pay wall give some insight on any tidbits of note? I think their has been some references for more to come in CORTEX later this year.

NGA contracts alone are enough to have a pretty healthy industry here in that field. But its also used for all kinds of things like utilities, oil and gas exploration, commercial developments, streets, ect
Precision Agriculture is a big driver in geospatial technology. Thus the reason for the $500,000 donation from Monsanto. There are at least 3 companies within the geospatial arena who are in discussion to move within the T-REX building which is over flowing with companies at this point.
I don't think they will have any trouble filling it up. I am in the industry and work for a company that was considering moving over there early to get ahead of everyone else, but in the end decided against it.
